German Shepherd | ♂ Male | ~8 Years | 50 lbs | 🐶 Dog Friendly 

This pitiful-looking boy is Sam, and he came to us in absolutely miserable condition. He was found with multiple severe open wounds, requiring sedation and shaving to properly assess and treat them—hence his current lack of pants. 💔

Sam has a body condition score of just 2/9 and is suffering from German Shepherd pyoderma, believed to have been ongoing for months, possibly years.

The good news: treatment has started and Sam is already improving. ❤️ But healing from this level of disease will take time, and unfortunately, he does not have the time or environment he needs to fully recover within the limitations of a shelter.

🐾 DOG FRIENDLY! Sam has done well with other dogs.

We attempted a heartworm test but were unsuccessful due to his significant dehydration and difficulty obtaining a blood sample.

Sam needs a rescue willing to continue his treatment, give his body time to heal, and show him what feeling good is supposed to feel like.
