Calling all science writers!

Do you like science? Do you have a burning desire to communicate your passion for science to a wider audience? Would you like to see your written work in a glossy, full-colour magazine distributed across Glasgow? Then you're in luck.

The GIST (Glasgow Insight into Science and Technology,www.the-gist.org) are looking for articles on topics from every corner of science, technology and engineering for their upcoming first issue. We're running a competition for articles, the best of which (anonymously chosen by GIST society members) will be published in the first issue and the runners up being published on the GISTwebsite.

We're looking for articles on: new developments in science, technology or engineering from around the world; Stories based around research in Glasgow or Scotland or novel approaches to old research.  Above all the articles should be engaging for readers with an undergraduate-level science background.

Article lengths are limited to 1 page (700 words) and 2 pages (1300 words) and writing style guide can be found at http://the-gist.org/gist's-golden-rules-of-copyediting/. If you want to see what we've been writing about so far, all our articles can be found on the GIST website (www.the-gist.org). We can also provide suggestions if you don't know what to write about (editor@the-gist.org).

If illustration is your speciality, we would love to hear from you too, since a picture is worth...well, at least the same as 700 words to us!
