just a question of understanding;
So what makes US Lottery it Haraam? is it the name "Lottery" or; the action of sending application for citizenship and a random selection passes on who gets it.
to my understanding of this program no ones pays anything to participate and no one buys a ticket, they call it Lottery because of the random selection of is granted Citizenship (which some people dont believe because the trend now seems people who get it mostly have a career path).
is that still Haraam?
May Allah reward you for the collection of materials and giving answers to us who need the most and please get back to me so as I know what to correct in things I have already sent to people.

As I told you I appreciate the material, so I went ahead and read the beautiful article and I noticed they translate it directly as Gambling which the Citizenship lottery is not. as I told you not a single coined is collected from peopl not a single coin is returned to the winners,
but I am still waiting to hear from you so as I to not underestimate the scope of this issue and end up doing the wrong.

As far as i understood from your clarification, it seems to me that there is nothing wrong with entering the Green Card Lottery. The issue is no more than a form of drawing lots that has nothing to do with gambling.
Scholars mention that the word “lottery” literally means the drawing of lots. There are basically two types of lottery. In some lotteries, a number of tickets are sold and one or more of these tickets draw prizes. This type of lottery is a kind of gambling or qimar. It is forbidden in Islam because many people put in their money and only a few receive the prize. Others lose their money and receive nothing for it.
The other type of lottery does not involve any payment. Here, the lots are drawn in order to choose between various groups of people or things. In the Islamic terminology, it is called qur’ah or istiham. This is basically permissible.
