Hi all,

just got a call from my wife, apparently my Eheim auto feeder just
fell into the tank.
It's been retrieved, but is now turning non-stop, so she has removed
the batteries.
Any ideas on whether it is likely to be functional? I'm hoping I can
pull it apart, dry it and spray with some WD40, but thought I'd post
here to see if anyone else has had the experience before me.
Not too much food fell into the tank, I'll be doing an extra vac
tonight just in case though.

Just let it dry out. I've had remotes, cell phones, even a gameboy,
get wet and then work again after drying out sufficiently. Not always
worked perfectly, but worked. hehe

Ahh, but if those devices had fallen into a saltwater tank, ymmv a lot
more ;~)

My experience with autofeeders (4 so far) is that they are more
fragile than they should be : (

reading this I had to wonder

I stuck my hand in a tank that looked completely normal once
there was nothing obviously wrong with it
just about electrocuted my self to death
plunged my hand in up to the elbow and zaaaaaaaaap
not sure if you can fix the feeder
but Im glad the wife was thinking and unplugged it first
could have been ugly

best

Thanks to all for the feedback.
I let the feeder dry out, but this didn't seem to help - the LCD was
blank and the unit still rotated continuously.
So I pulled the whole thing apart and sprayed everything inside with
electrical contact cleaner, and left it overnight to dry.
Tested this morning, and everything appears to be working fine. I'll
reassemble it tonight and see if it's fully functional.
Now I just have to work on a more reliable mount for it, not sure how
many times I can get away with dropping it in the tank :)
