Hi all,

I have what I think is a yoyo full of eggs - her(? obviously I'm
assuming it's a female at this point) belly is very swollen compared
to her partner, and I've compared it to several pictures I've found on-
line.
We had some eggs attached to the side of the tank a few weeks ago,
until these were eaten by the black ghost knife. Our best guess is
that the yoyo loach was the source.
My question is, now that the bgk is gone, does anyone know of a way to
encourage spawning? I assume that the female will lay the eggs
whenever she needs to, and it's then up to the male to do his thing.
Seeing as no-one seems to be able to breed these in captivity I am
also assuming that the problem lies with the male.

Lots of assumptions in there. Just thought I'd see if anyone else has
had similar experiences :)

Nice link, thanks.
There's plenty of good reading there for when I get home from work,
but some interesting stuff even on the quick page I checked.
I posted a while back about the color changes on the my yoyos and the
fact that it seemed to occur while they were asserting dominance.
Looks like the behaviour may have been related to mating (but I doubt
spawning).
Anyway, there's plenty there to let me determine the sex more
accurately. I'll keep an eye on them and see what happens...
