Group Rules

Welcome to The Freshwater Aquarium. In order to make the most of this
group please try to do the following:

1. If you are subscribing via email please don't just hit "reply to".
Please trim the previous poster's text or their message is repeated
again along with yours when it appears on the group. Snipping relevant
statements in order to clarify your own post is fine.

2. If a conversation develops that leads to discussion of something
other than the original topic please start a new thread. By doing this
you will get more attention from people who can assist you. For
example if a thread on Filters evolves into a discussion on breeding
fish please start a new thread on breeding fish - cut and paste the
pertinent posts from the original thread if you believe this to be of
value - this way people with more experience on fish breeding rather
than filters will see your questions and respond.

3. By the very nature of a free and open discussion group it is
possible from time to time that disagreements will occur. Please try
to respect the opinions of others. Consider taking the debate to email
if necessary or requested to by other posters.

4. Please check the rec.aquaria FAQs at http://fins.actwin.com/mirror/
for useful information.

5. Please feel free to make suggestions for improving this group. It's
easiest for us to locate and respond to your ideas if you put them in
a new topic. You are also welcome to email any of us directly. We
welcome your suggestions and comments to make this a thriving and
informative community and resource.

6. This is a noncommercial group. Please do not post full-message
advertisements. If you are a regular participant in the group, you are
welcome to include your business information in a two-line signature.
Use common sense about recommending your products to posters. There
are times when the recommendation will be helpful and appropriate, but
too much mention of a business in hobby groups is often
counterproductive.

7. Photos are welcomed here. If you have some images you would like to
share, you will need to send them using your email program. Attach the
images to an email addressed to: The-Freshwater-
Aqua...@googlegroups.com You may enter a name for the images in the
subject line, or use the subject of an existing topic appropriate for
your pictures. Images can not be posted through the Google WWW
interface. Before sending your image, please use a photo program to
shrink the image to a size that will allow our members with dialup
connections to enjoy them as well. 50-60 KB is a good size that will
transmit quickly while maintaining good viewing quality. If you have
difficulty resizing your photos, there are a number of managers and
members that you may contact to help you with this.

Finally, this group is a Managed Group. The purpose of the Managers is
to ensure that most of the discussion in the group is about aquariums
and ponds. Subscribers who try to deliberately disrupt the on-topic
discussion of aquaria and ponds will be suspended from posting or
banned, either with or without warning - hopefully it will not come to
this. Decisions about banning/suspending users will be discussed and
acted on by the Management Team. If you wish to be considered for
inclusion in the Management Team please email one of the managers of
the group.

For the most part, pretty much anything goes. Some deviation from
topic is inevitable and adds to the community spirit of the group -
please use your common sense on this. We hope that you enjoy your time
on this group and find the information, topics and advice of value.

The Management Team NetMax, Gill, Altum, Nikki B, Mellie, Denizen,
Phyllis & Jim, Andy
