This weekend Jim and I had an egg challenge. Tinamarie is going
organic and all natural so we decided to put her logic to the test.
Organic and all natural foods not only are better for you but taste
better, so she swears. So this weekend in the market all natural farm
fresh brown eggs were on sale. Ok I figure this is my chance to have
an egg challenge since Jim loves eggs.

I must say the all natural eggs tasted better and looked better. The
color was brighter and they just seemed richer. They actually put me
in mind of Italy.

Anyone else going organic or all natural?

Donna - I know exactly waht you mean. The first time I had a fresh egg
-- from Elizabeth's chickens -- the yolk was such a rich orange color
I was a little put off. The eggs I was used to had yelow yolks...
they'd always seemed bright to me, but the color of these fresh eggs
was deeper and richer... and the flavor of the egg was also deeper and
richer. In the grocery, when I looked at the chickens - instead of the
pale, milky white chickens I was used to, these wee a rich yellow and
you could still see some pin feathers around the legs. Again, the
flavor was just so much MORE.

I'm not sure if I could go all organic... I would like to but its so
hard here. Some things are labeled organic but really are not. Our
labeling system is not very accurate. During the growing season, I try
to buy moslty from local farmers who say they are organic. I grow some
of my own veggies... and I look carefully at labels.

Gabe and I are looking for local farmers who sell good meat. I'd like
to find a local source for chicken, eggs and meats. We don't really
want to drive all the way to Lancaster... I'll let you know what we
find out.

There is a new place here in Philly at Ridge and Spring Garden where
you can purchase fresh killed poultry. I think you can even pick it
yourself. I've actually been scared to go. Wonder if they have eggs?
