Off my personal reco - not much. I usually stuck to West 4/LES for
city nights but there you will find small and insignificant (but FUN)
bars.

A few fun places I've been: Cielo (fun ass club in meatpacking
district), Marquee (another fun club) - these will both have covers
and i'd look into getting a table. 230 Fifths is a great rooftop place
but they are mad pretentious at the door and always make large groups
of guys buy a bottle and/or table.

I'm doing some internet research and here's what I've come across so far:

- Dream Downtown

anyone? Also cool because we could stay there, party and pool there
and then bar hop after to celebrate. They got a mix of yelp reviews
but some ppl are just haters so I'm sure they're fine

- Tao (http://www.taorestaurant.com/index.html) is a sick restaurant
in midtown-ish. There's also (what appears to be) a really sick club
nearby...like across the street but I know theyre super exclusive etc
so a table would have to be bought.

- Veranda is supposed to be cool. Infinite McCloud had his bday there
a few months ago, dunno if you GW boys wanna double dip. It's located
downtown and lots of fun bars nearby.

- Karaoke? (http://nymag.com/bestofny/fun/2012/karaoke-venues/) - not
sure if you guys would like that but I think it's fun. happy to look
into it more if so.

P.S. - spend some time poking around NY Mag. Also, I'll help find
hotels but let's zero in on what area we'd like to debauch in first.

Nice work Jameise! I've always have been obsessed with math. It's just a very different way of thinking and teachers don't know how to make it interesting and applicable to anything. Looking forward to this venture.

Collin I just wached the TED talk video..I completely agree with everything Wolfram said. Understanding calculus and how it can be applied to solve problems is so important. It's what we use to understand or approximate any kind of change and pretty much every luxury we have today is because of it...I dont get why it's taught so late. I work with biostatiticians at my job and they help me analyze my data. I've never seen them calculate anything by hand. That's the most irrelevant part of math in the modern world yet we spend so much time forcing kids to do it. Crazy.

Although I was (and still am) one of those kids who preferred to take out the garbage than do math, my passion for education reform gets me excited about the inherent value of a project like this. I think im on the other side of this. Earlier this year i planned on going on a speaking circuit to talk to kids about how math is dumb and you dont need it. I go to a top 50 law school and i still dont really understand fractions. Perhaps if i did id go to a top 20 but either way there is still a good chance of me making a lot more than my math understanding counterparts. Call me crazy but i feel like certin people are meant to understand math and certain people arent.

Josh,

The W has better rates but Dream has a lounge in our favorite place. The roof. I was looking at 2 rooms with 2 double beds in each checking in Friday and checking out Sunday. In the Dream you get their regular (but extremely luxurious) rooms for the previously mentioned accommodations for a cool 1700. The W has much cheaper options but we can get the same 2 double beds for about 100 less. I'm a fan of the W option, the aesthetics are unnecessarily expensive to me at Dream. When I actually have racks it won't matter. We would also be remissed not to consider just spending one night in a hotel and crashing somewhere free the other night. I have a spot but its only for me.

People - hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday.

We need to finalize these upcoming bday celebraciones...below was
jarrod's latest response. Any opinions? I can only afford to pay for
one hotel night Who is in/out so we can begin breaking down costs?
Also, you boys need to pick your activities, not just the hotel.

"The W has better rates but Dream has a lounge in our favorite place.
The roof. I was looking at 2 rooms with 2 double beds in each checking
in Friday and checking out Sunday. In the Dream you get their regular
(but extremely luxurious) rooms for the previously mentioned
accommodations for a cool 1700. The W has much cheaper options but we
can get the same 2 double beds for about 100 less. I'm a fan of the W
option, the aesthetics are unnecessarily expensive to me at Dream.
When I actually have racks it won't matter. We would also be remissed
not to consider just spending one night in a hotel and crashing
somewhere free the other night. I have a spot but its only for me."

First off, what are people's budgets like?

I'm thinking.. 

- Friday night we do a rooftop thing (Hudson Terrace, the W, etc.)

- Saturday during the day we can just chill during the day, ladies can do a little shopping, maybe first Saturdays at the brooklyn museum?, then get a table somewhere for the night. Saturday night would be our night at the hotel

- Sunday post-hangover brunch

Just my thoughts, please throw in your suggestions. I'm going to ask some more people for suggestions this week and get back to you.

Anyone besides Courtney already know they won't be able to make it?
