Happy Pride Month, everyone!

My household and I are having a very suburban pride out here in Metrowest.  I started writing this as we were about to leave for gay yoga 15 minutes from our house instead of the Dyke March in Boston. Pride hits different in your early 40’s and I’m ok with that.

With many small towns around us hosting very sweet little celebrations, I find myself grateful that in my hustling 20’s pride was only 10 days long. There were so many nights when I'd teach dance, go to an event or pre-parade craft night, and THEN go to a party. Or the time I took the bolt bus to New York to perform at the Stonewall Inn in my pointe shoe and Doc Marten number. If we’d had a whole month I imagine I would have REALLY run myself ragged. And that’s on top of teaching dance, back then I was working at as many as 5 different studios with recitals in May and June.

Here’s the big news:
“Ladies at a Gay Girls’ Bar, 1938-1969” was mentioned in the New York Times!!!

And one of Time Out Magazine’s “Best Pride Events of 2024” in NYC! https://www.timeout.com/newyork/theater/ladies-at-a-gay-girls-bar

ALSO I can’t celebrate without acknowledging that there are way bigger things going on and the Times’ coverage of  Gaza is  terrible. Pride was a riot, hold your leaders accountable, donate whatever and whenever you can.
