My Sheep Hear My Voice

I yearn to be the sheep

Not the old sheep that shoves with side and shoulder

Just the lamb hoisted up on the Shepherd

Frolic in the pasture under his watchful eyes

Not to trample and muddy the drinking water

Oblivious to the looming judgement of those that plunder the flock

And, I'm in the pasture, doing what sheep do

Listening for his voice

And listening for his voice

Not straying

Staying close to other sheep

Not the straggler: easy prey

And listening for his voice

Listening for his voice

He watches his flock

So I will play Hide And Seek

Listening for his voice

I hide in the open

Listening for his voice

Hearing nothing, I hide more

And listening for his voice

I hide some more

Take eat, Take drink

I hear his voice

He found me

Touch my hand, Touch my side

I hear his voice

And I follow as the sheep
