Well for those of you who would like the whole story, I'll try to give it to you.  Dennis Gaubatz resigned as the HOA President about four weeks ago.  I am most likely the reason for his resignation.  We had several strong disagreements concerning the direction of the board and his interpretation of what the policies were.  I am the first to admit that these disagreements got ugly, and while I'm not proud of it, I admit to losing my temper with him concerning our responsibilities as an HOA.  Simply put, I did not believe we could take action for things not stated in the policies and procedures that we were all given.  Basically, I felt we had to follow the rules as they were written.  Dennis did not agree with me, and this became a very heated debate.  As such, I believe he was simply tired of dealing with everything and decided to resign (this is my assumption).  Feel free to ask him for his rendition of these events.  However, I do feel that I am the most likely reason for his decision to resign.

About a week later, Jeff Drazil asked to be replaced as HOA Vice President.  Jeff's father had passed away, and he has some family issues he is dealing with.  As a result, he is no longer able to give the board the time it requires.  This is a great lose to the entire community.  Of all of the board members, Jeff Drazil has been the best representative.  He stated he would be more that happy to continue to work in any of the committees, but he must take care of his family first.  If we are all very lucky, Jeff will agree to run for the board again, once his family situation is taken care of.  We would all be lucky to have him as a representative, he truly exemplifies what is best about this community.

Now as for me.  I had intended to stay on the board and help get things up and running again.  However, last week I was contacted by Anna High School, and I have been interviewing for a position.  If I am offered this position, I plan to accept.  While Anna will pay less, I will more than make up for this due to the ever rising gas prices.  Additionally, I like the idea of teaching in the same community that I live.  Yet, this does create a problem if I am on the HOA board.  While it is legal for me to be on the board and work at the local high school, there would at least be the appearance of a conflict of interest.  Someone could claim that I had voted against their ACC request because of something their child did in class.  As such, if I get the job at Anna High School, I do not feel that I would be able to assist the board.  While I do not know if Anna High School will offer me this position, I thought it best to place my position up for election as well.  The last thing a new board would need is to complete a special election, and then need to fill my spot if I must later resign.  Like Jeff, I am happy to work with any of the committees that need assistance.  Hopefully, Deb will let me back on the Crime Watch committee and I'm happy to keep helping Tara out with the Pool.  I just should not be in a HOA board position if the job comes through.

At least this way, the community will get the opportunity to place a board in place by election, rather that having to have members appointed.  Hopefully, we will get some good candidates that are interested in working for the betterment of the entire community.  Those of you reading this should consider running.  Jeff and I are both willing to help the new board members as much or as little as they would like.  Please email me if you have any additional questions, or just stop me on one of my all to frequent dog walks.  Hope this explains everything.

Sincerely,

David Fay

David,

Best wishes for you and your new job opportunity with the Anna Schools....hope that works out for you.

I know you have been very active and I appreciate the work you have done on the board and for our neighborhood.  Thanks for the informative email.  It helps those of us who are not as close to the action to know what is happening as you have seen it.
