The Entrance BUSINESS OWNERS MEETING - Concerns about the future

To all who attended the business owners meeting meeting on Tuesday 27
November 2007 - 5:30pm At Mojo's Restaurant and other interested
parties.

This discussion forum is offered by The Entrance Chamber to facilitate
your views in gathering the important issues that require attention
and ultimately present those views to local government and appropriate
bodies. The Chamber welcomes any new membership to get involved and
make it happen for the good of the business and general community.

The first issue to address is the inaccuracies of the editorial
reported in "The Central Coast Express Advocate" published on
Wednesday Dec 5th page 8 following the meeting.

Hi Mike

If you think you're disappointed, you should have seen my face when I
read it!! I don't know where they got the idea that the only rep from
chamber left early - certainly not from me or Kate. The rebuttal from
Council regarding the fact that we don't pay for tables or umbrellas
was very misleading and makes us look stupid. Not to mention the fact
that they got the numbers wrong about how many attendees - they said
20 when it was closer to 40.

I am very well aware of how much support the Chamber are giving this
forum, which is why I was very surprised (to say the least) about Dan
Campbell's comments as Senior Vice President. I have discussed these
concerns with Wayne and I believe the Chamber Board were also quite
surprised too. As a business owner and Chamber member, his views are
in complete opposition to mine as well as everyone at the meeting. I
don't believe he had any right to make any comment given that he
didn't even attend the meeting and hasn't spoken to either myself or
Kate. If he really feels that Town Centre are performing so well, he
should have spoken as a private party not as a representative of the
business community.

I did speak to the journo prior to the article going to print, plus
sent her all of the correspondence between myself and Town Centre so
that she had all of the facts in writing. She sounded very much in
support of our cause especially after speaking with Robyn Stewart,
Steve Cutler and Council..........she did mention though that the article
was huge so I wonder if our message got skewed in the editing room......
perhaps the Advocate are more concerned with the amount of advertising
space TC and Council buy each week???????

I will be speaking with the Sun to try and make sure the same doesn't
happen with them next week.

Thanks for the reply to my e-mail.



I was reading the local newspaper last night and noticed the article
about the meeting, and was more than a little disappointed at the
comment about the Chamber
representatives.( i.e. That only one turned up and he left early.)
For the record, the president, the secretary, and two of the
executive were there, and were very supportive of your cause.
Obviously the journalist didn't get all the
facts before writing the article. That comment made it look like we
didn't care, and are almost in the same boat as the Town Centre
Management committee ???

I accept you can't control the journalists, and have made this
contact to reinforce my supprt, as a member of the Chamber executive,
and, as a local business manager.

I'm sure the executive as a whole support your position as well.
