Hi folks ...these are my comments ...

Given the recent controversy over the current board of directors of
the Town Centre Management, I believe it is very timely that the new
chamber membership should look very closely at the management
structure and ask many questions. My first question I would like to
ask is to fellow chamber members.

How do you believe the TCM board have performed at implementing the
following aims and objectives as set out by Wyong Council since
inception ?

RULES and AIMS of Town Centre Management (as set out by Wyong
Council)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.1 To promote, market and raise the profile of The Entrance Town
Centre as an attractive and viable retail and commercial centre

3.2 To ensure that all activities carried on within The Entrance Town
Centre comply with the provisions of the Local Government Act 1993 and
the Regulations made pursuant to such Act.

3.4 To assist the establishment and expansion of viable enterprises in
The Entrance Town Centre across the full spectrum of retail and
commercial activities.

3.5 To produce, update and implement an economic development strategy
plan for The Entrance Town Centre.

3.6 To provide a forum for members of the Corporation with the aim of
improving management practices and strategies to enable The Entrance
Town Centre to compete more effectively with other retail and
commercial centres.

3.7 To co-ordinate with other local and regional bodies and
organizations.

3.8 To form task specific committees as necessary to undertake
particular projects utilizing relevant experience from members and
other local and regional bodies and organizations.

Hi all,

Either members are too busy or just don't care to respond to my
discussion about TCM. I actually thought the topic would generate a
response. I have been vocal in the past on this subject and we have
had some great discussions about the lack of strategic planning and
proper management processes within the TCM organisation.

See previous post:

If the current membership (including the current committee) is that
apathetic as to not to have an opinion on this important subject, then
I wish to say that we will all get what we deserve "more of the same"
poor strategic planning and a town run by self interest and greed from
the top down !!!

My say Wayne Elstub ... (chamber member)

I cannot respond on behalf of members, however I will certainly
respond on behalf of the new committee.

Although I do appreciate your enthusiasm and commitment as a member
(especially given your current work commitments), I do not appreciate
your comments regarding the new committee being apathetic. We have
only just had our first meeting this morning and leading up to that
meeting, a few of us have been meeting and discussing pressing issues
and our dedication to actioning them in the days between the AGM last
Wednesday when we were elected and our first meeting today - 7 days!!

Dare I say it, but I think that this new committee as well as the past
business owners forums (which a couple of previous executive committee
members branded a waste of time and a splinter group) has shown more
enthusiasm and achieved more as far as generating new memberships, and
uniting the business community in the past 7 days than the last
committee did in the past 12 months.

As a member I would hope that you haven't lost faith in the new
committee's commitment to revitalising this town. We do take on board
your comments regarding TCM and we know we have a lot of work to do in
a very short space of time, however please show us a little patience
and let us get on with familiarising ourselves with our new
responsibilities, and in turn we will prove to our membership that
their support isn't in vain.

Hi Jo,

My comment regarding apathy was directed at all members including 30 +
connected to this forum which included some committee members ... I
asked a question that we have all regarded previously as a very
important subject and was astounded that there was no reply at
all !!! ......At least until now .. thanks for the reply

But I would still like others to use this medium for open discussion
as it was intended ... At least my comment got a reply even though it
was a defensive one. Apathy inflicks us all from time to time .. even
committee members myself included.

Jo, you are in fact allowed to have an opinion on your own and I am
surprised that this subject (TCM competency) has not got a comment
from you given recent events and the slanderous comments by the
Chaiman of the board in a recent press article about winging business
owners at The Entrance.

My opinion .. I welcome yours.

Regards Wayne
