I certainly agree with Wayne Elstub that the forum should remain open
to all members.... for whom the forum was intended.
Our new Committee members should remember... that prior to their
election to this committee, many were quite happy to meet and openly
criticise the previous committee.
Now it seems that they themselves are not prepared to recieve in turn,
any negative comments or criticism.
I would have thought that under this committee's new "Mantra" of
goodwill, that they would have accepted both frank discussion and
constructive criticism from their financial members.
Of course, if the Chamber isn't prepared to use the forum in the way
that it was intended...then I also agree with Wayne that it could be
setup as a local resident or business forum and then be open to
everyone.....

As an individual Wayne Elstub can establish any forum he wants
however, being a member of the Chamber who offered to keep the site up
to date, does not give him individual ownership of the site which I
believe belongs to the members and is managed by the Board for the
members. All the current committee is trying to do is make the intro
page more professional and business orientated; update the information
which is currently very out of date - correct names and contact
details for each committee member, calendar of events, membership list
with contact details etc; promote member businesses and provide
simple but important business information and opportunities.
Members are encouraged to contact any and all committee members and
the committee as an entity has absolutely no need or desire to be
anything other than transparent and is working hard to bring benefits
to all members who wish to participate. The activity on this forum is
'low' and Wayne himself has openly criticised members for not
responding to issues that are important to him. We hope to see as
many members as possible at the Chamber's 'Business After 5' events
which are held monthly and at the upcoming event on July 28 with
Malcolm Turnbull, Shadow Treasurer. Would be great if Wayne would
update the site as requested by the Board which includes removing the
'low' activity forum and start providing the members with the web site
they are entitled to so they can get more involved and get excellent
value for their membership dollar and the time they invest.
Alternatively, simply provide the necessary interlectual property to
the Chamber so another member can update the site.

I'm confused, was this site setup for the financial members of the Chamber
of Commerce
to discuss views and ideas, relavent to the benefit of the members in
between organized meetings
where we can communicate face to face, or is it an open blog site for anyone
to use, to air there
personal views whether they benefit the group as a whole or not.
I am a relatively new member, but I think anyone who feels strongly about
the future of this group
and more importantly the Entrance and District business sector as a whole,
should come along to
the meetings and discuss their views with other members rather than use the
ananimity of the keyboard.
