Hello Michele,
here is the email I sent out. If you are interested in being a part of
the group just join. Don't worry if you don't think you have much to
offer... in the end what each of us will contribute has nothing to do
with us (other then us submitting to God) and everything to do with the
Holy Spirit speaking through us. I and whoever else leads will provide
some guidance to what we read (the order of books) but other wise it
will all be the Holy Spirit. Any way, take care and God bless...
In Christ,
James

Hello everyone,
I sent out an email on the 24th (it's at the bottom of this email)
mentioning that I wanted to start a Bible study group and requesting
that anyone interested in being a part of it email me. This email is in
response to those emails I received and also feedback I got at the
Monday Meetup.
I realize "indepth Bible study" is a bit vague so I will try and give a
clearer understanding of what I envision for the group. The small group
which survived the "Great Disappointment" earnestly desired to know
what was meant by "cleanse the sanctuary". Their desire to know the
answer to this question focused their study of the scripture and it was
through this focused Bible study that they were shown the doctrine of
the Investigative Judgment as well as other doctrines. What should our
focus be?
As the groups focus I propose that we search God's scripture with the
goal of obtaining a clearer understanding of these end times. I know
that most have studied Daniel and Revelation but there is still much we
don't know. Also there are texts scattered throughout the Bible which
talk of the end times and Jesus' Second Coming... my question is have
we systematically tried to put all of these scattered texts together
into a unified whole? I think we tend to study Daniel, Revelation,
Christ' discourses on the time of end, etc. as more or less distinct
separate revelation but fail to treat them as a whole. We look at the
individual pieces but forget to put the puzzle together. What new,
beautiful truths would we discover if we put all the pieces together
(Daniel, Revelation, Jesus' discourses, Paul's, Peter's, the harvest
view of the Second Coming, the feasts view of the Second Coming, the
marriage view of the Second Coming, etc.)? Prophecy is about 30% of the
Bible, does this mean we will ignore the other 70%? Nope. I believe
that if we wish to truly understand prophecy and these last days then
we must use the entire Bible. So we will study the entire Bible with
the goal of understanding these end times better. What does everyone
think?
Whatever new things we learn we can then take that information and
present it at our home churches and perhaps others so everyone gains a
blessing. We could also perhaps write some papers and presentations and
make them accessible on the internet and or send them through email.
Everyone has asked when we will meet. I don't really know but it would
be nice to schedule a time in which the majority can attend. With that
in mind could everyone send 3 or four times which are good for them and
then we can vote on the proposed times. Also how long would everyone
like the meetings to be, 1, 1.5, or 2 hours?
Yes! we will study the sanctuary as it is a big part of Revelation.
There has also been a question on language... whatever you speak is ok.
Once again, if you know of anyone who might be interested in joining
the group, please forward this email to them.
God Bless,
James
p.s. I don't know when we will meet first or where (perhaps "my" place)
but everyone should try and read Daniel... making notes on anything
that strikes them, especially those parts (words, phrases, concepts) of
the text that remind you of other Bible texts. The point is not to
learn about prophecy but to notice how Daniel fits in and connects to
the rest of the Bible.

Hello everyone,
After the great disapointment of 1844 a small group of individuals
gathered for indepth study of the Bible. They wanted to know what had
gone wrong and why Jesus had not come back. Through the indepth studies
of this small group, God was able to bring to light many important
doctrines that would eventually lead to the establishment of His
remnant church, the Seventh-Day Adventist church.
We are now standing on the threshold of the most important event of our
age... the soon return of Jesus. What important messages still lay
buried in the Bible which need to be laid bare as we face these last
moments in history? I believe that it is past time that we gather, as
our church's founders did, for indepth Bible study. If you have an
interest in joining in such a study then please email me. Also please
forward this email to anyone else you think might be interested.
In Christ,
James

Hello everyone,
at the end of June I sent out several emails (all attached below)
proposing a Bible study group. Several people answered back saying they
were interested. I then asked for suggested times. Three people have
answered thus far: Dave, Keith, and Michele.
The times we need to vote on are:
1) Monday Evening (Either to Replace or be in conjunction with the Meetup)
2) Tuesday evening
3) Saturday evening
4) Thursday evening
5) Sunday evening
6) Friday during the day
There is also the possibility that we do much of our discussions over
the internet and then meet once or twice a month. I have set up a
google group for our use and uploaded a few things I have found which I
think are interesting. I'll send out an invite and all of those still
interested can join.
As for meeting areas, Michele has offered the use of her place and
Nwamiko has mentioned that his place is perhaps available. Also I have
talked things over with my sister and our place is available anytime
during the week. The only rule is that I need to get people in before
8:00. So, we definitely have a place to meet.
That's all for now. If anyone has something to add please do. And as
always please invite anyone you think might be interested.
God bless,

James,
Good question... the way I envisioned this study is that you would not
need to know a lot about the Bible or prophecy. The idea was to read
the Bible (with a bit of guidance) and let the Holy Spirit lead you. In
that sense any one can join SDA or not... but we will also be
approaching this study from a SDA point of view of these times. So I
don't know...
Dave what do you think?
In Christ,
James
