Minutes of Sunday June 5, 2011 Meeting
This was the monthly meeting to evaluate the activities of the month and to discuss how to make the Egyptians as a big family in America
We had a good attendance and we discussed the following
- Follow up on the voting rights for the Egyptian Americans and how to get people ready for making the Egyptian ID cards since we will be having a committee coming from Egypt to make national ID’s for us
- The importance of attracting the second Egyptian generations to work with us and we discussed inviting them to an activity day and Fatma Owais suggested a big place on George mason Dr to receive them and listen to their ideas and suggestions and also we suggested age groups meeting where youth from the age groups from 5-7 and 8-10 and 11-14 and 15-18 and 19- up for different coming together
- Ms. Fatma Owais made presentation about the Arabic classes the center will provide and she explained that it is a high quality classes using the books used in colleges and government classes and she showed us the books and explained about the three levels (beginners, intermediate and advanced) and she will be overseeing the classes and using the best teachers who were also present at the meeting, there will be classes for those less than 18 and also adult classes
- Mr. Hassan said he was able to agree with a dentist to offer us discounts from 30- 50% from the regular prices for dental services
- and explained that medical services could also be obtained from other doctors to the community
- Mr. Girgis F Girgis also explained that the Egyptian St. Mark church is offering medical services for low income that could be as low as $5.00
- Also we all agreed the center will receive any items that is usually donated to Salvation army and Good will and the center will offer them for free for the community
- Ms. Fathia who owns a big child care center in Mclean offered a discount of 50% for the members of the center in her very high quality place
The meeting was a successful meeting and everyone expressed his determination to make the center Idea to succee
