Hi everyone,
I am forwarding this e-mail and attached PDF file for one of my coworkers at St. Vincent's, Rhonda, one of our RNs on the medical unit where I work. Her dad was involved in a serious accident on his farm last week, and was taken immediately by LifeFlight to OHSU. He was in critical condition at the time, needing many surgeries as he had suffered massive bodily trauma and lost a lot of blood. They've had to really count on donated blood to replace the blood Rhonda's dad had lost in the accident. More surgery is on the way, and the still need more blood. A blood drive is being held in his honor (see attached PDF file). More info is on the e-mail below so please, read on. If you would like to help out by donating blood at the blood drive, the locations and times are listed in the file I am attaching with this e-mail. If you know of anyone who might want to help, share the info with them (via the PDF file even) regarding this blood drive. It's an opportunity to help someone, not just Mr. Schurter but anyone else who may be dire need, and also a chance to bless and minister to their family. Your thoughts and prayers for the Schurters would also be most welcome. Thank you.
Jean

Linda & Nancy,

A quick update on my dad.  He is now upgraded from critical to serious condition in the trauma ICU at OHSU.  He had a sixth surgery today and his trauma surgeon anticipates two more (they need to close his abdominal wound).  However, they will attempt to extubate him tomorrow.  If he succeeds he will not need a trach.

Unless I hear differently I will show up for my 3 8 hr shifts next week (Monday through Wednesday)

Rhonda

PS: 3 of my brothers are firefighters and their fire districts are both organizing blood drives in Dad's honor.  If you think it is appropriate you can share this with my coworkers.

Also, two of my brothers work for TVF&R.

As you know, the details about the blood drive being held on March 28th has been shared with all of TVFR's career and volunteer personnel.

I've also shared it with Life Flight and the Statesman Journal. Attached is the poster so that you can forward it to your family and anyone else you think might be interested in attending.

Best,
