hey people,

i was just contacted by lazlo from BlowUpRadio.com & LazlosDen.com. he's putting together a digital download charity album to help shayne miel (the future kings of nowhere) in his fight against cancer. if you're interested in donating a track from your dmp album, please let me know which song asap. the deadline is feb. 1st.

lazlo's email is below.

thanks,
sean

btw: don and i will be on npr's the state of things tomorrow at noon. they'll be playing clips from a few songs, but i don't know which ones for sure. tune in and find out! ;-)

=======

I am e-mailing you today for your help in benefitting someone who is truly
in need.

Shayne O'Neill of the band Future Kings Of Nowhere (
www.thefuturekings.com
was diagnosed with stage IV lymphoma (cancer) at the end of November.

He is currently undergoing chemo treatments. You can follow his blog for
more info (
www.thismachinekillscancer.tumblr.com).

While he is keeping his spirits up pretty well through what must be tough
times, his medical bills will soon be piling up.

While I realize many of you do not know Shayne or his music (you can
download his "solo demos" for free at
www.thefuturekings.com), I could
really use your help in raising money for Shayne.

I am planning to put together a digital album of previously unreleased and
live tracks from bands, with 100% of the money raised going directly to
Shayne to pay his medical bills.

If you have a previously unreleased or live song, or can record one quickly,
and would like to be involved in this digital album for a good cause, please
let me know ASAP.

The plan is to have the album available in early March, but obviously this
will depend on musician's interest and promptness in getting me the tracks.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Let's all band together and help a musician in need.

The Tremors would be happy to donate a track. I'll leave it up to you which one to use but if you need us to pick just let me know.

Actually, it's studio stuff. We don't have any gigs before Feb. 1, though. We have some live tunes from a gig last Nov. at Somewhere Else Tavern, or we could just use one from the DMP release. Two of the guys aren't even in the band anymore, though.

Sean,

You can definitely take any tracks from our live set for this cause.
Shayne and the Wigg go way back.

Hey Sean!

I just listened to you on the radio, you guys sounded great!!  Yay!

I want to contribute to this, definitely.  I have a previously unreleased arrangement of Will the Circle Be Unbroken that I think would be nice to include on that...and I'd like to get it out there on something.  I think that's in the public domain right?  If not let me know, I can contribute something else.  Definitely want to help.

Let me know,
Kristen

Ha! Well, rub those paddles together and jump SAD back to life! Sorry for the medical metaphor. I'm obsessed with House.

Sean,

We're going to donate a song from our Somewhere Else Tavern performance last November with our present lineup. I emailed Lazlo to see what kind of file he wants, etc.

Kristen,
The rule about public domain for an "individual work" goes something like this...

The copyright exists for 70 years after the death of the last living owner of the copyright.

that is...
70 years after the person who owns the copyright dies, the song, or "individual work", is then considered public domain.
(so, yeah, most traditional songs are public domain)

He's looking for previously unreleased live recordings, but a live recording might do too.

Ohhhhh, okay.  I'm supposed to be getting a live recording of the benefit show we just did at the Flat for the Autism Society.  Get on John about that, cause I'm sure there's something on there that I could use.  Or you could use "Stouffer" from DMP show....

Thanks,
Kristen
