Hello, you sonically-gifted and talented life-lovers!
I'm Amanda Waterhouse from Tea Hugger and I work with Zeke Vantreese
every month to organize the First Friday Indie Market. I hope you've
seen us before on the corner of South Elm and MLK during one of the
previous First Fridays, and if not I hope you'll come out in November.
WE'RE GROWING! So here's why I need YOU! (Yeah, sorry again. I just
can't help myself.)
***Seeking "unplugged" musicians to play pro bono for the market on
Friday November 6th.***
While we can't pay anyone (not yet anyway--anyone good at grant
writing?), you're welcome to set out a tip jar, sell your CDs, etc.
Please please get in contact with me if you'd like to play!!!!!

I've posted some additional details below. And thank you thank you
thank you in advance. I'm prepared to answer any and all questions
you have, so buzz me...

Here's some general info about the Market...
The Market Itself:
-The FIRST FRIDAY INDIE MARKET is a crafters/handmade/arts/vintage
street vendor faire.
-The Market is held on the First Friday of every month as part of
Downtown's First Friday festival.
-Market hours are 4-9pm.
-Performance times are ideally one hour long; however, you can choose
to play shorter or longer depending on your set/act. Preferably, your
set/act is not less than one half-hour.
-The Market is held outdoors on the paved parking lot on the corner of
Elm Street and Martin Luther King ( at the bust of MLK, in the lot
next to the office furniture store). Starting in November, we are
adding a secondary lot across the street, next to Salon Medusa.
-There are two grassy knolls attached to the parking lot. One is on
the corner, behind MLK's bust, underneath/next to a tree. The other is
on the opposite corner of the lot, in appx 20 x 20 feet of tree-free
grassy area, adjacent to where vendors' tents are being set up.
Performance space at the second lot is TBD.
-YOUR role at the market is to create ambience, draw a crowd, and to
entertain passers by. The "feel" we're going for is that of street
performers, or buskers. (Though, technically busking is not permitted
in Greensboro, so you must stay within the boundaries of of the Indie
Market if you want to set out a tip jar. Or, of course, feel free to
stage a coup against the man who's keepin' you down. Just don't tell
'em I sent you, because I will DENY any history between us and then
get my Italian roommate's mafia connection to wipe your hard drive.
I'm sly like that.)
-City ordinance does not allow any amplification of any sort. We will
not be able to use amps, speakers, mics or any other loudening
devices.
-There is a loading zone available on MLK. Once you arrive, check in
with me at my Tea Hugger tent, or with Zeke, the Market Chief of
Everything. We'll show you where to set up. Parking is off site,
wherever you can find it (hey, we live in a city!), though we
encourage people to park at a nearby lot whose owner has given us
permission to direct cars his way.
-We can't pay you. Believe me, I WISH we could. But please, please,
have as many flyers or business cards as you can print--seriously,
don't fear the paper cut! And sell your CDs. For real.
