*My Testimony

I'm approaching my 1 year anniversary of earning my bar licenses on April 24, 2012.  Last year around this time, I was fervently praying for GOD's Grace, Mercy, and Blessings to reign on me so that I would get a "Yes & Pass" on my Florida Bar Exam.  Everyday leading up to April 24, 2012 was filled with anticipation.  However, I was very calm and assured that GOD had my back.

The first time I took the exam, I failed by one point.  I mean literally---one point! (You needed a 136 to pass and I earned a 135.)  I was not only devastated, but humiliated and embarrassed.  To top it off, I was pursuing an advanced degree in a new state thousand of miles away so I had no idea how I would have time to study for the Florida Bar... all over again while attending a  full-time advanced program.  My self-confidence was destroyed.  I doubted everything about myself from my physical appearance to my academic skills.

After about 2 weeks of self pity, I turned to GOD and just completely immersed myself and relied on HIM.  I relied on HIM in everything.  I said to myself, I’m going to lean on HIS living WORD, I’m going to believe all of HIS promises, I’m going to stay faithful and just endure while GOD does his “thang.”   I said, GOD this is up to you.  Clearly, I tried this own my own and I failed…now I’m totally dependent on you.  Show me how to study, show me where to study, tell me what to do, LORD! Take complete control because I’m helpless and I can’t do this.

While studying for the Florida Bar originally, I studied about 13 hours per day for 7 days a week.  The second time I studied for the bar exam, I was back ins school, working 30 hours a week at a private firm (because the cost of living in Chicago was unbearable), and interning with the IRS for 20 hours per week.  I'm not sure how I found the time or energy to study.    Yet, through HIS GRACE----I was able to study about 7 hours per day for about 6 days a week.  Additionally, I was working with two phenomenal bar coaches with incredible talents who were lending me their time, skills, and guidance for free at no charge.

On April 24, 2012, I passed the Florida Bar exam! With all of the extra things I had going on (school, work, internship, & a crazy long distance “relationship,” my score moved from a 135 to a 155!  Not only did GOD allow me to pass the test…GOD just showed up & showed out & allowed me to dominate the Florida Bar Exam. I’m here to testify that GOD IS PHENOMENAL.  GOD IS REAL. GOD WON’T GIVE UP ON YOU. HIS WORD IS TRUE. HIS WORD IS EVERLASTING.  GOD’S GOT YOUR BACK! Stand firm, endure, and trust in HIM.

*Bible Verse:

This is one of my favorite scriptures I wrote on all of my note cards and whispered throughout studying:

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

*Goal:

Currently my goal is to GET A JOB!  Figuring out my niche and where I belong in this legal world has been a challenge since I got my license last year.  I’ve literally been all over the place living in different cities and practicing different fields of law.  I need to get back to the place I was at with GOD while studying for the bar in hopes that he will lead me to a happy, fulfilling, great paying CAREER!

That verse is Isaiah 43:2!
