to The Dalles Lions Club
Hello Fellow Lions,

A quick recap of today's meeting for those that may have missed it: Our guest speaker shared some great details with us about the work going on at the Oregon Veteran's Home here in The Dalles. If anyone wants to volunteer there and needs a point of contact I can point you in the right direction!

Lion Jann Oldenburg shared a project she is associated with, in which the Fort Dalles Museum is working to restore a flag from 1868. She even gave us a history quiz: How many stars were on the flag in 1868? (Answer given below.) Attached to this email is a document that describes these efforts more fully for any club member interested in the topic.

Lion Jim Winterbottom was awarded the Lion of the Year award for his dedication to the club and the great services he and The Dalles Disposal offers to our club. For those that don't know, Lion Jim and The Dalles Disposal are integral parts of our annual Christmas tree pick up fundraiser, one of our best fundraisers we do.

We also had a visit from Elvis, AKA, Jim Youtsee.  For those Lions who may not have had the opportunity to meet Jim, he travels the country, mostly in the Southwest, and gives Elvis impersonation performances at various assisted living facilities. Here is a video of him in action.

My apologies for the lack of a functioning microphone, we should hopefully have that sorted out sooner rather than later.

I also forgot to mention that the 100 Year Celebration planning committee is meeting Thursday at the Salvation army at 1100 to 1200.

Thanks for a great meeting!

Lion Brad
