This week my fiance and I have been travelling across Tennessee taking
time between some weddings for some vacationing. As we've driven here
and there we've seen beautiful vistas from numerous mountains from the
Smokeys to the Cumberlands. We've kayaked and tubed down mountain
rivers. We've go-karted, at funnel cakes and rode sightseeing chair
lifts in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (I was not allowed to go to
Dollywood!)

Summer is sometimes filled with these kinds of experiences, with your
friends, on a mountain, celebrating moving ceremonies, sitting around
the fire, singing songs, telling funny stories until 5 in the morning.

I can't help but think that God wants this kind of beauty in our
lives. The kind of experiences that bring us closer to the beauty of
God's handywork in both the scenery and in the lives of those around
us. Or maybe God has shown you the beauty of the people around you
despite the looks of the scenery around you - and in those
relationships lie the opportunity for making that scenery look better
in the future.

In any case, take time to look for these moments when God breaks
through all the digital devices, video hinderances, the hectic-tech to
reveal the organic, living, breathing, body of Christ all around you.

Peace
Carl

READ 1 THESSELONIANS 5:14-28
1. How have you seen others warn the lazy, encourage the timid, take
care of the weak, be patient with everyone?
2. When was a time you tried to do good for someone in the face of evil?
3. How have you known the joyful community of Christ?
4. What is the peace that God brings and when has it been most
evident in your life?
