In the next few weeks I'd like to travel through some foundational
components to living as radically as Jesus always intended us to.
The First: PEACE and POWER
John Wesley once wrote, "When we say, 'Believe and
thou shalt be saved,' we do not mean, 'Believe, and thou shalt step
from sin to heaven, without any holiness coming between...but, believe
and thou shalt be holy; believe in the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt have
peace and power together." (Works, Sermon 25, "Sermon on the
Mount, 5,")
The life of a self-professed, practicing Christian is one that moves
from a sense of one's own salvation through Jesus to the sharing of
that good news with others in the service and love you offer them.
This is a life lived between Ephesians 2:8-9 and James 2:14,17 [look it
up!]
For all of us the peace that God's grace provides should bear fruit as
the power of God allowed to through us for God's economy of justice,
love, and mercy.
With the power of peace,
Carl
