Hi Folks , 

Have worked out options for the 3 day trip of Batch of 82 to  Pune and it definitely is  going to be a memorable one .... Looking forward to December ...

One quick question - would like the feed back from all of you whether fri, sat ,sun 16, 17 & 18 December is fine OR you all would prefer 23, 24 & 25 Dec as most of the schools /colleges would be closed in the last week of Dec - both are equally fine with me . Please send your pref so the dates can be frozen and all can do the reqd travel bookings AND i can  have the dates for hotel booking . 

Do revert at the earliest -lets say atleast by 30 th April 16.

It appears to be more convenient for friends who have school going children and the idea is to increase the participation.

We discussed it briefly with the Delhi team members and they appeared to be fine. Probal and Ashish are also fine with it. Ashish will call you shortly to confirm

Yesterday I was at Kolkata and sounded SRG and ABC for these dates.

So we can go ahead and start working on the specifics.

To start with we need to send out a mail asking friends who would be interested to confirm their participation.

Then by a given date they should deposit some amount towards advance which will confirm their inclination and will also help in specific logistics planning etc

Looking forward … Chairman sir, you need to start thinking about the slogan/theme artwork for Pune event .

Remembering Mr. Joe Shankar ( class teacher VII-A , 1977) on the occasion of his Birthday today April 5^th

He was one of those teachers who left a mark on us and whom we remember fondly for everything- his debate practice sessions with Harsh Dhar in our class room VII-A students of 1977 would remember , pyramid practice sessions on the field  ( Sanjay Malaviya and myself-Gold house ), his caning the  students- bent on the benches ( almost every one) and his antics-(again almost everyone would remember them).

 

A Jolly Good Fellow he was- May his soul rest in peace. Thank you Sir..

Yes, indeed remarkable & commendable that you recalled Mr Joe Shankar' s birthday , Lovi. I was in the same section too (Class VIIA). The tribute opens the floodgates to many memories (some not so easy on the derriere) & yet deeply nostalgic.

.... the clenching/ unclenching of fists & dramatic expressions

.... the suppressed laughter (usually at our follies & foibles) through the thick moustache

.... the immortalised line "mur mur ke naa dekh..."

.... and many, many such nostalgic moments

Very true Lovi. Big salute to Mr Joe Shankar.

I don't remember the class and section (either VI-A or VII-A : class was at the ground floor, extreme end of senior section near the water taps and Office was also just across) where Mr Shankar beat one of our classmates Rajeev Shukla black and blue. It seems Mr Shankar got incensed by the fact that Rajeev was making too much of noise in the classroom. But no doubt great man. A person who can never go unnoticed.

Big salute to him once again.

PS: Anwer do you remember his nicotine stained finger nails?

I remember Mr Shankar’s chemistry classes esp. the experiment on sublimation using camphor! What memories

My memories -

a) mur mur ke na dekh

b) Spanked bottoms

c) full geometry box thrown at the class randomly at excessive noise being made (I was in 7E at that time - extreme right of senior wing - closest to the taps)

d) being pushed into the deep end of the swimming pool during swimming lessons lest I did not remain a tadpole

The list could possibly go on...

Learnt a lot from him - on inside and outside class rooms .... they don't make them like that anymore..

And I guess 20k should be ok for the Pune hotel+ going around+ food etc. And would like to collect that in two parts - 10k for preliminary bookings  and another 10 k  say by 15 Nov. Your take on this please ?
