Brandeis Reunion!

Hey all,

Just curious if anyone had started making plans for our 10-year Brandeis Reunion this summer. Gloria and I are planning on going, and would love to see you all there.

We were contemplating travel and lodging arrangements, and were wondering:

1. Who's planning on going?

2. Where are you planning on staying?

I think there's an official reunion hotel, but it might be pretty crowded, and I'm not sure how expensive it is. We're happy to stay there, if that's where everyone else is staying, but if people haven't made plans yet, and want to find a place that is still close by, but maybe a bit cheaper, we'd definitely be up for that.

There's a bunch of hotels up by Totten Pond road (Holiday Inn Express, Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard, etc.), so that might be a logical place to look.

No pressure (it's still a few months away), but I'm just curious as to what people are thinking.

It's not my 10 year, but I'd love to see you all. Keep me in the loop and I'll try to stop by. I live in Nashua now, about 45 min away from Waltham. We have a guest room with a queen size bed if anyone needs a free place to stay and doesn't mind a bit of a drive.

I am planning to be there on Friday and Saturday (and will probably come up a day or two before that) and will be leaving super early on Sunday morning to get back to Philly for an event. I plan to drive and I will probably try to stay with friends. I'm not invested in any of the specific events but just want to spend time with people!

I'm totally planning to go! Also thinking of going up Thursday and staying through Sunday. No specific plans yet... but probably staying in a hotel nearby to keep it local/easy. There is a reunion hotel... but it's a Marriott in Newton. The group rate is $139/night. Personally, I'd like to try to be closer to campus.... so we'll see.

FYI - I have a queen size air mattress and a comfy couch for anyone who wants to save cash and stay with me.  I have a Cambridge visitor parking pass, as well, so do not feel like you need to be without car to stay with me.

I will be going. I'm up for doing or not doing whatever anyone else wants to - I just want to see everyone!  I live about an hour from Waltham, and have a guest room if anyone is interested (as long as you don't mind sharing it with the cat). I also have a very cushy couch and an extra room that could house an air mattress, so I've got lots of space for guests!  I'm looking forward to seeing people!

Dear friends,

I do plan to come, and I look forward to seeing everyone. My preference would be crashing on someone's guest bed / air mattress / couch, although I am not averse to staying in a hotel. 

I would like to attend perhaps 1 of the official events, and I'm hoping as the time gets closer that someone can guide me as to which event would be the best to attend. But yes, as most have said, spending time together doing "unofficial" reunion activities is going to be the best part.

I definitely want to go, and am dying to see everyone. Cost is going to be a concern for me though, so I'm still trying to figure out what's feasible. Probably would want to crash with someone as opposed to doing a hotel though - that I can say almost with certainty.   I'm going to try my hardest to make it up there. I'll know more in a month or two, once I see how busy things are w/ the business.

Okay, we've officially gotten our travel arrangements sorted, and will be in the area from early Friday to early (very early) Monday.

Now that the official programming schedule has been released, has anyone given any thought to what events they might be signing up for? We're fine with doing non-official events, if that's the direction folks want to go (and someone wants to plan them!), but we'll be happy to do the official programming if people are into that, too!

I signed up for the BBQ, Kegs & Kickball, maybe we'll stop by the ice cream social at Castle (?), the Saturday night dinner, and the after-party in downtown Waltham.

Saturday PM -2005 Reception and Dinner (Depending on other people's level of interest)

Saturday PM - 2005 After Party in Downtown Waltham

Depending on interest levels, I was thinking of taking the lead on planning a group brunch on Sunday.

I think it would be fun to take a campus tour - sounds like they're doing that on Friday & Saturday. I'm also planning to go to the barbecue on Saturday. Other than that, I'm up for whatever anyone else is doing!  I'd be happy to go to the reception/dinner too, but I would skip the after party, since it's almost an hour drive back to North Attleboro.

Just wanted to let everyone know I will make it after all.  I found a relatively reasonable flight and Alan has graciously offered to let me crash with him, so I'll be there.  Just for Saturday and Sunday, though (and not with Darrin, he can't make it).  I get in late on Friday night and leave Monday morning.  So I'd be down to brunch somewhere on Sunday if people want to (though not the official brunch).  I'll be reliant on public transportation though.  In any case, I can't wait to see everyone!

Well, I won't be able to make it to Boston for the reunion, though I have two very good-news reasons! The first is that Jon just started a new position last week (and can't leave until he's done ramping up). I'm pretty proud of him! He joined the clinic's executive team as the new chief of the medical staff, which puts him doing mostly administration. And he should have better hours...soon...just not in time for us to all fly out together. I had thought I might be able to make the trip without him, but my second reason is that I'm pregnant with baby #3 (due in November) so I think it might be a bit more than I can take on with Emerson and Samantha in tow :D I'm hoping we can all make it to somewhere on the East coast in August and will keep y'all posted. I'll miss seeing y'all and hope we can catch up other times!

Ditto here.  BTW - FYI - Deluxe Station Diner has surprisingly amazing coffee.  That being said, Cabots is right off of the Mass Pike, which might make it a more convenient option for most people.  I am fine with either option.

I registered for the BBQ, Class dinner, and art museum tour - & I would like to do a campus tour. After skimming through the earlier emails, I came up with the following schedule that includes the most popular events and some thoughts for Friday:

Friday: Can we get together Friday afternoon/evening? Many of us non-Bostonians are arriving Friday. Possible ideas:

• Afternoon campus tour
• Science Museum
• Friday evening hang-out at someone's house
• Dinner out Friday night

Saturday:

• 9:00 breakfast (some)
  
• 11:00 Provost's talk (some)
• 12:00 BBQ (all)
• 3:00 Art museum tour / campus tours (some)
• 7:00 Class dinner (all)

Sunday:

• 9:30 Sunday brunch, place TBD
