I joined when I ran into Steve Maines on a Triumph motorcycle group, I think sometime in the 90's
I'm still actively playing. Currently in 3 bands, Blues, Bluegrass, and an "Originals" trio, slipping into and out of "jazz" with a lot of room for creative bass work.
At 70, I still lug an assortment of power heads from Gallien Kruger, Fender (tube), Behringer, and a small rack case with Alembic FB-2 pre (that came with my '75 series1), aphex compeller compression, aphex aurel exciter and Crown power amp.
Pushing an assortment of 12" cabs from EV TL 12 to fender bassman 4X12 (from 1975).
All of that is getting way too heavy these days, but the Blues band still plays at too loud volume.....
Other than that and something that fits in my Miata, I prefer a Bose L1 model II system for the Bluegrass and Trio work to amplify. That tone match pre can really do the trick.
Even though I still have 16 or so basses my go to 7 instruments are Alembic series 1, 2 frankenfender jazz basses with Audere pre (3 band and 4 band fretted and fretless), 79 Stingray fretless, Indonesian Sterling Ray that I hot rodded with pre and pickup, and for bluegrass my 67 Starfire or a 1947 Framus Anton Seifert 3/4 upright.
