to The Book of Mormon in the Classical Historywriting
When taking about Israël as the promised land in 1Ne18:23 all events
in the BoM, could be traced in the same years in the classical
History
books.
Earlier we identified Lehi as Jeremiah, Ismaël as Ishmaël, The river
Laman as the Nile-Red Sea channel , Irreantum as Eritrea and Nephi as
captain of Necho
II who sailed around Africa. The landfall of Lehi was in Lycia.
Shortly after Lehi died and Nephi was contested as the new leader:
1Ne19:12 And it came to pass after my father, Lehi, had spoken unto
all his household, according to the feelings of his heart and the
Spirit of the Lord which was in him, he waxed bold. And it came to
pass
that he died, and was buried.
13 And it came to pass that not many days after his death, Laman
and
Lemuel and the sons of Ishmael were angry with me because of the
admonitions of the Lord.
2Ne1 Behold, it came to pass that I, Nephi, did cry much unto the
Lord
my God, because of the anger of my brethren.
2 But behold, their anger did increase against me, insomuch that
they did seek to take away my life.
4 Now I do not write upon these plates all the words which they
murmured against me. But it sufficeth me to say, that they did seek
to
take away my life.
When his brothers tried to kill him, Nephi departed into the
wilderness
with his family, Zoram, and his brothers Sam, Jacob and Joseph.
6 Wherefore, it came to pass that I, Nephi, did take my family,
and
also Zoram and his family, and Sam, mine elder brother and his
family,
and Jacob and Joseph, my younger brethren, and also my sisters, and
all
those who would go with me. And all those who would go with me were
those who believed in the warnings and the revelations of God;
wherefore, they did hearken unto my words.
7 And we did take our tents and whatsoever things were possible
for
us, and did journey in the wilderness for the space of many days. And
after we had journeyed for the space of many days we did pitch our
tents.
Next posting we will trace the place and trek of Nephi.
Now we will trace what happened to his brothers Laman and Lemuel and
the sons of Ishmaël, who remained with the ships
West and North of Lycia was Lydia and the ruling class the Mermnads

Autochthonous Dynasties
Main article: List of Kings of Lydia
Lydia was ruled by three dynasties: the Atyads (1300BC or earlier) -
Heraclids (Tylonids) (to 687BC) (According to Herodotus the Heraclids
ruled for 22 generations during the period from 1185BC lasting for
505
years). Alyattes was the king of Lydia in 776BC. The last king of
this
dynasty was Mursylos (Greek) or Candaules (Lydian)
Candaules
Mermnads.
Alyattes II (609 or 619-560BC) - one of the greatest rulers on Lydia.
When Cyaxares attacked Lydia, the kings of Cilicia and Babylon
intervened and negotiated a peace in 585 BC, whereby the Halys was
established as the Medes' frontier with Lydia. Herodotus writes:
"On the refusal of Alyattes to give up his supplicants when Cyaxares
sent to demand them of him, war broke out between the Lydians and the
Medes, and continued for five years, with various success. In the
course of it the Medes gained many victories over the Lydians, and
the
Lydians also gained many victories over the Medes."
The Battle of the Eclipse was the final battle in a fifteen-year war
between Alyattes II of Lydia and Cyaxares of the Medes. It took place
on May 28, 585 BC, and ended abruptly due to a total solar eclipse.
Croesus (560-546 BC) - the expression "rich as Croesus" came comes
from
this king. The Lydian Empire came to an end when Croesus attacked the
Persian Empire of Cyrus the Great and was defeated
