The historical peace treaty of Dardanus in Alma 22:27 (85bC)
The lost treaty is found in the BoM.

It took the Roman army 3 years to come back to the Asian province
after
the sack of Ephesus, and the Roman Consul Sulla made the peace treaty
of Dardanus with Mithridates in 85

Alma 16:12 And the Lamanites did not come again to war against the
Nephites until the fourteenth year of the reign of the judges over
the
people of Nephi. And thus for three years did the people of Nephi
have
continual peace in all the land.

Alma 22:27 And it came to pass that the king sent a proclamation
throughout all the land, amongst all his people who were in all his
land, who were in all the regions round about, which was bordering
even
to the sea, on the east and on the west, and which was divided from
the
land of Zarahemla by a narrow strip of wilderness, which ran from the
sea east even to the sea west, and round about on the borders of the
seashore, and the borders of the wilderness which was on the north by
the land of Zarahemla, through the borders of Manti, by the head of
the
river Sidon, running from the east towards the west-and thus were the
Lamanites and the Nephites divided.

Decoding BoM:
king:Mosiah: Mithridates 6
Zarahemlah:Khazaria
river Sidon: the river the Don
sea west : Black sea, sea east: Caspian Sea
Manti Caucasus
Lamanites, here the Romans. Nephites, here the Ponteans

quote Apian:
In the summer of 85, Mithridate and Sulla concluded the Peace
ofDardanus. The king of Pontus surrendered a part of his fleet,
evacuated all conquered territories, and was forced to pay a
moderate
indemnity of a mere 2,000 talents. Ariobarzanes of Cappadocia and
Nicomedes of Bithynia were restored. Having achieved something that
was
essentially nothing but an armistice, Sulla could return to Italy,
where he was able to overthrow the government, become dictator, and
reorganize the republic. Mithridates had survived.
(unquote)

Do you realize the importance of these BoM verses. It is the only
copy
of the Dardanus treaty with a date between 90 and 83. While the
original Roman document does not exist anymore, we have here the copy
of Mithridates !!!.

This Roman document was lost already in 1830, but Smith did have the
Pontean one.
