Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi- I love the idea of mixture of Israeli/Palestinian/Middle Eastern/Mediterranean flavors... Global affairs through food? Yes please :)

The Flavor Bible
Seems like a great way to learn the fundamentals of the culinary arts: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/flavor-bible-karen-page/1100163990

I just bought Jerusalem — haven't cooked anything from it yet (it arrived last week), but it's gorgeous. The Flavor Bible is another one I'd highly recommend — I pull it out when I'm feeling adventurous or in need of inspiration.

Jerusalem looks amazing- exactly the kind of food I like.

I highly recommend The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook which is probably not a surprising one for anyone, but it is beautiful and every recipe I've tried has been amazing. Lots of combinations I wouldn't have thought of myself.

Yes! I'm so far quite impressed with the Smitten Kitchen cookbook. I've made the date-almond breakfast bars a few time. They're actually quite healthy (so I keep telling myself), freeze beautifully, and make a great on-the-go breakfast. Aaaaand they're delicious.

Just bought The Essential New York Times Cookbook by Amanda Hesser and am realm excited about digging into it. It's a carefully curated/quality-tested selection of the best recipes the NY Times has published since it opened in the late 1800s. I did not own any actual cookbooks so I figured a comprehensive, hefty volume was the place to start. My mom always had The Joy of Cooking in the house when I was growing up but for some reason I feel its a little dated, so I opted for something that has more modern food in the mix. I cant wait to start cooking my way through it!
