Hey Hammerheads:
Oh my, how time flies...seems like my legs just recovered from the 2012 version of this epic ride.
Wanted to get things rolling and see what kind
of interest there is this year. No idea what the weather holds for us, but seems like it just may stay dry through to January, we'll see.
Anyway, I put up an info and sign-up page on my site. Please check it out and decide if you're up for another WSCC. If so, please reg and we'll see if we can top last year's ride--not necessarily in sheer numbers, but in the amount of smiles the miles produce.
Oh, and I'm all in for some serious dialogue on how we can make this event safer and even better than the last. We had several serious crashes in 2012, which created all kinds of issues for the support team to deal with, not to mention medical bills and suffrage for a few riders. So this year the focus will be on safety above all else.
For now, I'm thinking the points and route will be the same as 2012. Any and all input on that is
welcome, of course.
I also know that speed was an issue at times last year as well. I know a bunch of folks were dropped on the final points segment, which is not how this ride is supposed to work. I'll take responsibility for that since I didn't realize it until after we got back to the park and heard from people days after the event--that is not supposed to happen. I should emphasize, this year will be much better in that regard. Perhaps a motorcycle (or car) dedicated to keeping the peloton tight.
If you're not interested riding, please consider participating in the support. It's almost as fun and we can definitely use all the help we can get.
We need to resolve the date and a few other details ASAP. Please visit MyTeamCar.net and vote your preferences and register. If you're not interested this year, just let me know and I'll drop your name from the mailing list, ASAP.
