Hi Hammerheads:
It's almost that time again...where else can you click-off 111-miles without wearing snow-shoes?
The current
forecast is showing bright & sunny. Yep, doesn't look like you fair-weather riders are going to get a pass. So buck-up and get your arms around some miles of smiles on Dec 8.
We have pretty good support but still need at least one more vehicle to handle wheels, etc. Also still need a dedicated vehicle to get the points segment cones placed. If you have a friend who's into cycling--but not whacked like us--please ask
them if they'd like to support the ride and get them signed up.
Speaking of support, there is a link at the bottom of the sign-up page to vote for whether or not we should have a full-on lunch at the Pinnacles halfway stop or just snacks. Please vote your preference so we can settle that.
Jon "Feel Good" Simms (MVV), is sponsoring this year's edition to the tune of $250. That means we could easily have a nice lunch setup like we had the last couple of years and MVV won't be paying yet again. Jon's the president and owner of Mountain View's TeamLogic IT, a very cool IT services franchise for small businesses. Jon was also one of the original WSCC riders way back in 2005!
I'm ordering some of the supplies for the event tonight. Right now I plan on Clif products for the gels and the electrolyte hydration mixes. If anyone has any serious specific preferences for Hammer or other brands, please let me know.
We'll have gels, hydration mix, bars, and plenty of water along with coca-cola. Of course, we'll have fruit, trail mix, and lots of other stuff as well.
So, we're coming down to the wire. This weekend looks crappy for riding but most of us know we'll have to do some mondo trainer rides or brave the ugly weather to keep the engine in tune for next weekend.
Sorry about my poor website availability lately. I had a few issues and still have some work to do on it. Please be patient. If it goes down, I work day and night to get it back up. I'm working on a few reliability
and recovery projects so it'll go down periodically between now and the big day.
Let everyone you know who is not reg'd to get reg'd/voted so I can get a final count by Sunday. This ensures we have enough supplies and support for everyone.
At this point, it's the same route and competition format as last year. Stay tuned for those details.
Make sure you vote on the lunch/snacks decision. Many people want to skip a full lunch (shorter stop) and just go with snack stuff. Many like the full lunch thing (longer stop. We need to settle that.
Okay, shut-up and ride!
