We are starting a new class on Thursday evenings from 6:30pm-9:30pm beginning this week August 6.  Beth Lyons will teach a class in beginning basket weaving.  For your first basket, several kits will be available to choose from.  Once you have the basics down, Beth will guide you to different baskets that will improve your techniques and skills.  This will be a class geared to beginning and advanced beginning weavers.  If you already know the basics of weaving and want to improve your skills, or you are just beginning, this is a great class for you.  The cost of the class will be $12 plus materials.  Please register on line or by phone if you plan on attending.  Print off this newsletter and bring it in for 25% off your first class.

We will also be at the Highland Station "Sounds Like Summer Concert" Farmer's Market Wednesday, August 5.  This is held on Livingston Road just west of Milford Road starting at 6:30pm.  We will also attend the Hartland Farmer's Market on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.  This event is held at the old Hartland High School just west of US-23 on Highland Road from 9am-1pm.  Come and see us at these events!

Beth worked very hard with the Ranger 4H club getting them ready for this years Fowlerville  4H fair.  The kids came in to the store during the fall and picked out the baskets that they wanted to make.  Beth worked with them throughout the year and I helped some of them finish their baskets during the summer.  These are just some of the baskets that the kids made.  They are from 9-17 years old and range from first time weavers to some that have been weaving for several years.  I am looking forward to working with them again next year.  A few of them have already picked out very challenging baskets to make.

Helen Springer will again be teaching her all day class on August 19.  We had a really nice time getting caught up on the first half of the summer at the July class.  This August 19 class is a good opportunity to try something different or a more difficult project that will take longer to do.  If you can't make it for the whole day, join us for part of it.   The cost for the full day is $24 plus materials or $12  plus materials for the 1/2 day.   Please let me know by phone or email if you plan on attending.  We will take a break for lunch, so either bring your own or there are a lot of places nearby to buy a lunch.

During the summer we still have open weaving.  Kids classes are on Tuesday morning from 10am-12pm, and Thursday afternoon from 1pm-3pm.  The cost for these classes is $12 including materials.  Several  kids have been coming in over the past few weeks.  They have made some wonderful baskets and have even completed a little bit of bobbin lace.  If these times don't work for you, just give me a call, and we can work out a time to fit your schedule.   Kits can also be made up if you want something to do while you are on vacation or for a rainy day.

Adult basket weaving classes are on Tuesday nights from 5pm-8pm, on Wednesday mornings from 10am-1pm, and the new beginning basket class on the first and third Thursday of the month from 6:30pm-9:30pm.  These classes are $12 plus materials.

We are starting to schedule fall and winter classes.  They will be on the web site in the next couple weeks.  The store will be closed for the Labor Day weekend from September 4-7.

Have a good rest of the summer.

Kathy
