It's been a long time between newsletters
from The Basket Sampler. We have been very busy the past few
months. There have been several 4H groups working on baskets
in the shop. There are a few more to get scheduled before
fair time. It's a lot of fun to see what the kids create. We
have been doing classes at several senior citizen centers.
Some of them are during regularly scheduled shop times, so if
you are planning a trip to the shop make sure we are open.
With regular scheduled classes with Helen and Kathy, a willow
basket class with Sandy Whalen, and some group classes, it's
been a busy spring. Now the push is on to get some more
baskets woven as we are participating in several art shows
over the summer and into the fall. And I suppose it's time to
start thinking about Christmas colors.
If you come into the shop on a Thursday, you may find Caitlin
helping out. You will recognize her by her (currently) purple
hair! She has been a huge help with dying reed. She has a
great sense of color, and delights in blending colors that are
exactly what is requested. Her biggest challenge is trying to
keep me and the shop organized and clutter free. If you have
a color request let her know and she will do her best to match
it for you.
There will be a change in the class schedule starting the week
of June 17. I am taking a class on Tuesday evenings, so we
are moving the Tuesday night class to Thursday night.
Saturdays will be by appointment during the summer. Here is a
list of the current schedule:
Tuesday
10am-4pm class from 10am-1pm
Wednesday 10am-4pm
Thursday 10am-4pm class
from 6pm-9pm
Friday 10am-4pm
