Spring is finally here! There are a lot of things happening both in
and out of the shop in the next few weeks. Hopefully we will see
some of you at these events.
We have had several people working on Easter baskets for their
grandchildren. I even get to make one for the newest member of our
family, Timothy William McMinn, who was born March 29. These
baskets have been in every color of the rainbow, including one that
is black (and beautiful!). Many children will have baskets that
they will be able to keep for a lifetime. It isn't too late to come
in and make an Easter basket for that special person, or we have
several made up in the shop if you don't have time to make one.
The Black Sheep Weavers will be holding their annual Spring Fling
this weekend at Huron Valley Council for the Arts. It is Saturday
April 16 from 10am-5pm and Sunday, April 17 from 11am-3pm. There is
more information available at
http://www.blacksheepweavers.com/Sales.htm
This show is held in addition to the Fascination with Fiber exhibit
at HVCA. This is a beautiful exhibit of anything fiber including
quilts, sculptures, weavings and a basket or two. This show runs
through April 30, 2011. More information is at

I met Jennifer Sartell a few weeks ago when she came in to buy
supplies for a basket weaving class she was going to have with some
members of her Farm Girl group. This is a really interesting group
who enjoy doing simple artisan techniques like blacksmithing, fiber
arts, basketry, canning, cheese making among other projects. They
get together about once a month and work on a project. They had a
good time making baskets, as you can tell by this page on Jennifer's
website:

I will be joining them this Sunday as they try their hands on
Ukrainian Egg dying. It should be a fun time.
I will also be teaching several basket classes to a couple of senior
centers, home school classes and Girl Scout Troops. Remember if you
have any size group, we can come up with a class that fits your time
and ages. Give me a call and we can set something up for you.
I have been out of the shop a lot the last few weeks since I had my
back surgery, another surgery in the family and the birth of the
Baby Tim. I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to both Helen and
Nina who have stepped in on days I couldn't be there. It would be
really hard to run the store without either of you and your help is
greatly appreciated. Hopefully, I won't have to be away from the
shop too much for awhile.
