I've been a member here for a few years now and formerly nicknamed
"look4brighterdays" and have a 6 year old with autism. My husband and
I are anxiously awaiting the birth of our second child, a girl, and
just want to ask for your prayers as we wait for her arrival in the
next few weeks.

We have done so much to help our son with limited communication try to
understand what is coming but who knows how things will be until they
happen. All the baby stuff is out for him to explore right now.
Thankfully he loves babies but does escalate and has a hard time being
calm when they are around. So I know at first he will be very hyper
around her. And who knows what his reaction will be when he realizes
this baby doesn't go home because she IS home.

I know it will be overwhelming at first having two children and on top
of that you who are parents of children with autism here know
personally what unique challenges this will bring us. I can't say we
are fully aware or prepared for what lies ahead but we will seek God
during those challenging times like we do with any challenge in
life. Oh and of course seek the wise parents and professionals here.

So we pray for God's support, wisdom, and guidance for our new baby.
He has entrusted us to two precious children now and we know that is a
great responsibility. Please pray for us.

Hi Jennifer

Try and relax. Your worries may never come true. If he sees his
parents calm then he'll feel the same.
Your little boy might absolutely adore his new sister.
He is going to learn so much from her.

A friend of mine who gave birth gave her son a baby doll too look
after, so he didn't feel left out.
He also has autism and he treated that doll like a real baby, he also
loved his little sister!!

Good luck
Dawn

Dear Father, Ease this child into the world and help her brother to
accept her, to be kind and gentle, and to cherish her. Bring blessings
on this family. Amen.

Many blessings, Jennifer and fam,
Gary
