to THE ANGLO INDIAN NETWORK
Dear All,
It was last night that I read Anglos in the Wind for the first time
and felt ‘the connection’ Anglos have for their community; however,
the immense response if from Canada, the UK and Australia. We in India
still have to experience the warmth that members from these countries
exhibit.
Personally, being an Anglo has been quite a pain. Most of our leaders
feel that they are legislators and that they had no role what so ever
to play with everyday problems that arise out of being a minority that
exerts backward pressure for the Government machinery to function in a
manner that is fair to all concerned.
It was in 2005 when our co-operative farm of 350 acres was illegally
being sold that I connected with our local MLA who gave me a lecture
on the faults I have in my somewhat nervous presentation of the
problem but never did anything about my problem. I later wrote to the
next incumbent wo Informed me that she was a legislator and that she
had no other role to play while all other elected MLA’s worked for the
people who elected them. It is a sad phenomenon but I wonder if this
exists in other states too?
We at the Anglo Indian Network intend to connect Anglos the world over
and bring out and discuss eminent problems that would otherwise be
unheard. I do believe that it is in our blood to party but that is not
the prime essence for connectivity.
I am looking towards connecting a larger number of Anglos and making
this space a hub for intelligent discussion and affirmative action.
With warm regards,
Peter Carlyle
