Statement of Account - Sponsorship for 2 Day Hockey Tournament in Madras on 17 and 18 Feb 2012
Dear Friends
Please refer to the attachment for two Western Union receipts dated 14/3/2012 through Australia Post for money sent to Harry Maclure. The receipts are embedded in the Western Union form. The final sum collected by me came up to 4010/-. This amount had to be sent in two lots of $2000/- and $2010/- as Western Union only permits transactions to a maximum amount of $2500/-. Terry (Ted) Snell came forward with $160/- towards meeting the project target of 5010/- plus a further $25 as bank transaction fee. I contributed a further $25 towards the 2nd transaction fee. Please scroll down for individual donations. Names of all those donated will appear in the coming edition of AITW. I take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you. The project has indeed been a huge success.
Final total as at 23/3/2012 is $7450/- against project target of $5010/-
Collected by me $4010/- and by AITW in Madras $3440/- Total $7450/-
Before Ted Snell came forward on 13/2/2012 the project total read as $3300/- collected by me and $1550 collected by Harry Maclure – A total of $4850/- against the target of $5010/- - A shortfall of $160/-.
However after Terry Snell’s good gesture there had been a spate of further donations flowing in with Fred Bourne contributing $300, Oslyn Paris $100/-, Sean Perera, $50/-, Ron Tanner, $50/-, Stan Salazaar $50/-.
Meanwhile, Harry Maclure in Chennai, had further received: $1000/- from Trevor Vanderputt, Rupees 1000/- from the AIAIA Jamshedpur Branch, Sean and Judith D’Costa from Jamshedpur Rs3000/- Desmond Hogg from Jamshedpur Rs 1000/-, Godfrey and Deana D’Souza GBP £ 300/-, Neville $160/-, Russell and Suzanne Binny from Sydney $50/-, Leith & Mary Petersen $100/-.
Also, CSSAI (Canadian Social Services for Anglo-Indians) came up with a massive donation of its own and paid directly to AITW.

It should be noted that besides hidden costs AITW hockey suffered huge financial losses when a 5 Star hotel in the last 24 hours dishonoured their agreement to cater 200 lunches for the teams and as they put it owing to unforseen circumstances
Accommodation at the hockey stadium for players was also cancelled as preference was given to players with disability who were taking part in another national sport although this sport was staged at another stadium. The A-I hockey players had to be found accommodation elsewhere with buses hired to transfer them to and fro to the stadium. Buses were also used by the players for the evening Ball and Sunday church. The teams also received generous cash prizes from AITW.
The extra money will be put to good use towards other AITW projects such as school fees and uniforms, university fees etc.

Hi Joe,
Since it is very close to the cut-off date, I will not be able to get a cheque
drawn. Can I make a direct deposit to your Bank instead ? Oh, and the contribution is from me alone.
Thanks in advance,
Sean

Dear Harry & Joe,
Further to our mail of the 16th Feb. we have received generous donations from two of our Members - Mr. Sean D'Costa - Rs.3000/- and Mr. Desmond Hogg - Rs.1000/-. We are arranging to send you cheques for a total amount of Rs.5000/- being Jamshedpur's contribution towards the Hockey Tournament. Sorry for the delay in doing so due to other priorities at Jamshedpur.
A gentleman Mr. Aloysious Wallwork who is an old Jamshedpur resident now settled in the UK, was on holiday in Chennai at that time and attended the Final Match and the Dance. Aloysious thoroughly enjoyed himself and could not stop thanking us for giving him the information and for my brother Mark who took him to the events. Congrats and lets keep it going till the glory of Anglo-Indians in the National Hockey Team is revived. We enjoyed all the newspaper reports too.
All the best!
Sincerely,

Hi Gerard
I would like to donate $50 from our family. We are proud of the hockey community as our girls still play the game and we are lucky to be here in a country where they can do so without any problems, just because they enjoy it! They were premiers for the past three years consecutively for the St Andrews Hockey Club.
We are very proud that they have taken up this team sport in the long time traditions of their grandfather Binny and their two grand uncles Vernon and Terence Binny.
Love to all and Gods blessings,
Suzanne and Russell
