I have a 1970 era dual showman head.It is listed as a TFL5000D 300
watts 117v 60hz amp with twelve pots.I have tried to get the right
schematic. It's not yet availabe on the fender field guide.Anyone out
there have a schematic...my email is Michael.L...@noaa.gov

This is a 4 X 6L6 amp with an output of 100 watts. The only schematics that I could find are for a Dual Showman Reverb head. You will find your schematic in THE TUBE AMP BOOK by Aspen Pittman...at least it is in Vol. 3

Look at the tube chart inside the cabinet and find the circuit designation...this will help you find the proper schematic on the web. It will be AA769 or AA270...I think......happy hunting....KT

Michael, Another amp porn book would be "The Soul of Tone: Celebrating 60 Years of Fender Amps" by Tom Wheeler. Published by the Hal Leonard press. It is a great book, unfortunately saddled with poor binding. Mine is now black gaffe bound! Have fun....kt

PS: what is the title of the Gerard Butler book?

The schematic you want is in the Field Guide under Heads/Silverface/
Showman AB763 The only difference may be the output transformer.

Hi Dusty, There are a lot of differences. First off, the TFL5000D Dual Showman is a reverb head. Beyond that, the differences between an AB763 circuit and a later silver face circuit are well documented and apparent once you have the two side by side. Plate voltages on the 6L6's are nearly 50 volts different. There are small caps on the grid supply on the later amp etc etc...

.you are right though, there is a transformer difference between a "showman" and a "dual showman" in the AA763 and AB763 circuits.

Also, for some reason, the circuits for the later reverb heads are listed in the field guide but show as error404 when clicked on.

Have fun with those schematics....just don't go blind lookin' at 'em.....KT

Kevin,The tube amp/Pittman book arrived, and it has an extensive library
of schematics on a cd,which I glanced at briefly. It appears to cover
everything in The Fender Field Manual site.I am getting ready to close a
30 yr. career chasing electrons for the weather service, and I've decided
to try my hand at designing, and building amps, and cabs.I am just getting
started,gathering documentation,and I'm rebuilding three amps I
currently own.A Dual Showman Reverb,a Vibrosonic combo amp,and a K200-A2
Kustom (blue metallic roll&pleat)solid state 100w amp with a 2-12
Traynor cab.The thing that threw me on the showman was the twelveth pot
which is a master volumn pot that sets the level overall after you set
the individual channel volumn pots levels. The schematics don't show the
twelveth pot ,but mention is made in small print on the AA763.Anyway
thanks for your help. You know the schematics actually show graphically
what the amp designer is trying to do.Everything helpsSo far .I have
ordered Mullard Tube Circuits,The Soul Of Tone,The Tube Amp Book(by
Pittman),and The Vintage Amp Book,by Gerard Butler.....mt

Michael, out of curiosity, is the vibrosonic an early brown face amp or the modern version? Also, if you are interested in master volume controls, you should check the marshall early Hiwatt (DR103) schematics for their take on the matter. I am also curious as to where you are finding mention of a master volume on the AA763 circuit. I have looked and looked and have never seen such a thing and I have owned several AA763 circuit amps....not one had a master volume. Also, the schematic for the dual reverb in the Pittman book does not show the master volume. If you go to the field guide and look up the silverface twin reverb you will find the schematic for the 100watt master volume twin which should be nearly identical to your amplifier.

whew! late model silverface amps can be a bear....kt

First thank you Juan,I have a 1970's era dual showman 100 watt head. I
think the CBS 100watt rms schematic listed in the fender field guide is
the right one I need, and I have copied that schematic. It mentions the
master volume control as an option in small print on the left of the
schematic. The problem for me is understanding how to use the individual
channel volume pots with the master volume pot. If you know about this
it would be helpful......Thanks .....mt

The vibrosonic I have is a black face, very similar to a twin reverb

Just received the Pittman book, and It's loaded with info.I found the CBS
100 watt RMS schematic that matches the dual showman I have, and it
list's that a master volume pot is an option...Thanks....mt

Michael, when the master is on 2 and the volume on 10 you will
hopefully have distortion at low volume...it is merely a way to tailor
the gain...experiment away!
