Please volunteer for the ACBA county fair booth!

Hi Folks!

Tonight would normally be the monthly in person ACBA meeting, but the club skips that every June — we ask members to sign up to volunteer at the Alameda County Fair instead.

So this is my first reminder to please sign up to volunteer at the club's fair booth. (We're behind on signups compared to last year, which has me worried.)

As a reminder, if you sign up to be in the relaxed, low-pressure booth for three hours (and maybe do a quick beekeeping demonstration if you want!), you get free admission and parking to the fair for the entire day, which usually costs $35.

If you can volunteer for the fair, especially the first week of it, please do that now: https://www.alamedabees.org/fair-calendar/. And it's okay to volunteer more than once.

Got questions? They're probably answered at the top of this page on the website. And here's my album of last year's pictures. If you've never been to the fair, you should; it's so fun. (And I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who doesn't really like amusement parks and carnivals, even though that's a big part of the fair. There's so much more to it. I love seeing the animals and all the exhibits that fellow nerds have worked on all year.)

One more comment: every year, people tell me "I'm delaying signing up for volunteering, to help you fill in the spots you couldn't get anyone else to do". I appreciate the sentiment, but I would much rather have you signup now so I don't lie awake at 3 AM worrying about the unfilled spots! Thanks!

Hi Rob! Don't want to keep you up fretting, lol. We signed up for a third shift.

Come on folks! The fair booth is super fun, and people actually ENJOY hearing you go on and on about bees. ;). This is a great way to give back to the beekeeping community from which we all benefit. You will have a great time, I promise!

I am in Europe , will be back in time before ghe end of the fair to do a few AM shift
