Hi everyone,

I recently joined ACBA and wanted to say hello — Jerry Przybylski kindly recommended that I connect with the group.

I’m supporting my son (11), who has been making and selling beeswax candles for about two years now. What started as a small project has grown into something he takes seriously.

We’ve always tried to source local wax, but that’s been a challenge at times, so we began rendering our own wax from honey super cappings. It’s become an important part of how we maintain quality and stay connected to local beekeepers.

We’re hoping to connect with members who may have cappings available after harvest.

We’re specifically looking for:

  • Honey super cappings only (no brood comb)

  • Colonies not treated with harsh chemical miticides

  • Unprocessed / unmelted material

  • Wet or bee-licked both are fine

For context, we’ve recently paid:

  • About $1/lb for wet, honey-heavy cappings

  • $3–$4/lb for well-drained / bee-licked cappings, depending on dryness

We’re local and happy to coordinate pickup to make things easy.

If you have cappings available now or later in the season, we’d really appreciate connecting.

Best,
Vid
