Here is the proposed garden layout for the beds and paths.
Beez Wings
3 pair and a skep
This Saturday we will do the physical layout.
Bring rakes and wheelbarrows to move the wood chips onto the walkways and out of the beds. If you happen to have a bundle or three of wooden stakes, we could use them too. I have some, but likely not enough.
We will dig in the pond liner in the Skep shape .
Other useful tools will be shovels, hoes, and spading forks.
We also need some hose, of the garden variety.
Water lines will have to follow another day, as there needs to be some administrative approval, which may take some time. The wheels of a community garden do not spin swiftly at times.
We will start planting next month, with luck, some rain will help. At least the water will stay in the soil a bit better in October than it does right now.
I am trying to negotiate the keys to the big gate so we can bring in a truck load or two of compost in. Stay tuned on that.
Now is a great time to do cuttings if you have some plants you want to propagate for the garden. The soil and air temps are still high enough to get roots started. It'll be a lot tougher in a month.
Should be a beautiful day to spend out in the garden on Saturday. Bring a lunch if you intend to stay that long.
This Saturday September 16 10-2
Cheers, Phil
