When I first joined acba, the club was a bit chaotic and unfocused. When Mark Burlingame became president, he struggled with a board that wasn't supportive of his vision. However, he introduced regular speakers into the monthly meetings. This proved so valuable that it was continued as an integral part of the club's activities. I believe this is the foundation of the club's current success, which has expanded its activities quite a bit since then. We can thank Mark that.
It is possible that the notion of speakers occurred previously in acba's history, but I only speak of what I experienced starting in 2011 when I became a member.
