Good morning all,

I did a split on Monday 6/24 and checked on the progress on Friday 7/5.  I found 2 frames with queen cells, some closed and some almost closed.
I was surprised to see those cells at the bottom of the frame and not on the side.
Is it often the case? Does it looks good?

Thanks

Emmanuelle

It looks to me like that your "split" is about to swarm.

Hmmmm, looks also like swarm cells to me, but one frame (with queen cells) is in a 5 frames super now (with follower boards) and the other frame in a 2 frames NUC. Do you think they could still swarm?
There was no sign of swarming when I did the split. It’s a strong colony with one deep and 2 super.

Hi all,

I am rescuing a swarm from a fence and need a bee vacuum (the queen is hidden in a crevice).

Anyone have one I could borrow not too far from Berkeley?

Thank you,

Emmanuelle

I once captured a swarm on a lattice fence. They were clustered on both sides of the fence but I only had access to one side. I held up successive frames of drawn comb against them and they all climbed on. It took a while and the queen was the last to climb on, but it worked.
