Hi Folks! A reminder that the speaker at the Tuesday night ACBA in-person meeting (tomorrow as I write this) will be Rob Keller of the Napa Valley Bee Company.

He’ll attempt to answer the question “What’s Your Place?” – understanding your position in the bee game!

Directions and such are on the club website here. Social time starts at 7:00 PM; club business starts at 7:30, and the speaker starts at 8:00.

Among the "club business" will be an award for the best upcycled flower -- if you haven't made one yet, here's your chance. (One other request even if you can't make an upcycled flower... if you have any interesting looking aluminum cans you're going to recycle, please bring a few; we'll use them for making more flowers if needed.)

Hey, and since I'm here: look at the red pollen pants on my girls today. What’s this from? (Hopefully not this.)

Finally, I think it's been at least a week since I nagged everyone about signing up to volunteer at the fair, so here's the web page for that.

Hope to see you at the meeting!

I want to thank Rob Keller of Napa Valley Beeco for an excellent talk at last night's monthly in-person ACBA meeting.

If you weren't there, you missed vivid discussions of a mummified squirrel in an acorn sarcophagus (and "Mummy Honey"); the world's largest mobile honeybee observatory; why Napa beekeepers are putting hives in the shade; what happens when large companies leave a flatbed truck with hundreds of beehives near you for most of the year, and what he found when he started testing pollen (hint: fungicides from grape vineyard monoculture).

The meeting was recorded, so watch this watch this space for an announcement when it's available for online viewing.

I'd normally say "if you missed it, we'll see you next month...", but there's no in person meeting in June -- instead, you should volunteer for the county fair. See you at the fairgrounds!

The red pollen reminds me of Rob Keller’s maroon colored propolis. I have never seen my bees come in with propolis…

Norma gave me 12 soda cans from last night’s meeting, and 3 empty clear plastic water bottles.
Do you want those too for flowers?

Who is Mark S? He is volunteering with me.
