Thank you for checking this out, Dan!

I'm sending this reply back in to the Bee Talk group, because there are some people who might have the ability to help with this that don't read the swarm list.

Is there anyone with the necessary equipment who would be willing to help out this elementary school in Fremont? It would be a great public service (and if you do extractions professionally, probably good publicity too).

UPDATE:

I met with Liz and checked out three locations where bees are coming in and out of. One location seems to be where the hive is in the enclosed covered walkway. The other two there just a few coming in and out. Unfortunately the covered walkway is where all the traffic of kids walk through all day long. I checked out all the drains and they have a huge opening for bees to enter through. The enclosed covered walkway has a 12” attic space. I told her that this will be an extraction. Schools are low on money because all the budget cuts so she is not sure what we can do to help her.

I told her she needs a very good heat senser to find out where the bees are at. She is hoping that someone from ACBA could volunteer their time to find the exact location of the hive. Once they find out the location, they may have someone from the school district cut out the plaster ceiling.  Then the person that helps locate the hive can extract them .

I have attached a few photos where the bee’s are coming in out.

Bad news is the facilities manager started spraying this morning. He thought they were yellowjackets. I told him please do not kill the honey bees. We need them.

Unfortunately, I could not help her. If I had the heat sensor, I would volunteer my time.
