Hi Folks! THURSDAY's (November 13) ACBA in-person meeting (tomorrow night as I write this) will feature speaker Ann-Marie Benz, Horticulture Programs Manager for the California Native Plant Society.

She’ll be speaking about Buzz-Worthy Blooms: California Native Plants for Honey Bees.

Curious which California native plants can support your honey bees year-round? Join us to dive into regionally appropriate native flora that offers support for your hives. You’ll leave with information on how to put together plant lists, garden tips, and a better understanding of how native plants benefit both your bees and the broader pollinator community.

Ann-Marie is the Horticulture and Stewardship Programs Manager for CNPS, where she gets to spend her days supporting native plant communities and their people. She has spent a decade and a half serving landscapes and watersheds with nonprofits in California and Arizona.

(Special thanks to club member Robin Chatham for coordinating our last two in-person speakers; see her YouTube channel here!)

Meeting agenda:
  • 7:00 - 7:30: Social time and “newbee” round table — get your questions answered in a small, friendly group.
  • 7:30 - 8:00: Club business, wherein I try to convince you to improve the life of yourself and others by running for club vice president or secretary next year.
  • 8:00 - 9:00: Speaker Ann-Marie Benz.
Directions and such are on the club website here. See you there!

To add to the excitement at tonight's meeting, Sung Lee will also be showing a 7-minute video about processing honey frames, and raffling off two of these really useful honey uncapping tubs that he made:
