Learn what you need to know to feel ready to have a Langstroth backyard beehive – how to get bees, what equipment you need, where to put the hive, what the bees need, and what you need to learn/do to keep your bees healthy. This class is tailored to urban beekeeping in the San Francisco Bay Area climate.

If you want a hands-on program to give you the skills to really know and take care of your bees, my mentorship is for you. It's a small group program where we are always learning from each other, our experiences, and the bees! It is a one of a kind beekeeping program, in an urban backyard beekeeping setting amongst beekeepers that love their bees like a part of their family. Instructor: Jennifer Radtke has been keeping bees in her backyard for 20+ years, and has developed the beekeeping education program at the Oasis. She was ACBA Vice-President for 3 years. She has mentees from Berkeley/Oakland to Marin to Livermore to Martinez, so she knows what's going on in all the microclimates of the Bay Area.
