Here are my January beekeeping classes + mentorship program!  Happy New Bee Year!  -Jennifer Radtke, Learn from the Bees

Early Spring Beekeeping Class - on Zoom

Wednesday, January 21st, 6-8pm
$30, recordings included
Early spring (January/February/March) is a risky time for bees and the beekeeper. The weather swings back and forth between rain/cold, like earlier this month, to sunny, warm weather like now. You can easily hurt your hive or set them back by reversing boxes, adding boxes too soon, or applying Formic right before rain. Learn how to help (rather than hurt) your bees AND prevent swarming at this crucial time of year.  We will also cover mite management and inspecting tips for dealing with propolis/boxes stuck together.
Note:  This class covers swarm prevention in part and only for February/March, but the Swarm Prevention class (below) is much more in-depth and covers February - June.

Part 2:  Sunday, February 1st, 6-7:30pm

We have a really long swarm season in the Bay Area, and so learning swarm prevention is key to being a good beekeeper here.  It also fosters good neighbor relations.  This class will give you clear advice on what to do prevent swarms from my 20+ years of experience.  It also goes into the fascinating bee biology of what leads to swarming in a hive.
