to Twain Harte Community
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the original Twain Harte
Community Mailing List was created in July of 1998. The original list
was hosted by webdancers, a Twain Harte web development company. Over
the years, many people have come and gone and the volume of messages
has risen and fell. It's now time to move it to a system that is
easier to manage and provides its members with more features and
better performance. Thus, the move to the Twain Harte Community Group.

The purpose of the group remains the same and is reprinted below, from
the original FAQ, posted in 1998:

What is the purpose of this list?
The purpose of the Twain Harte Community list is to provide a forum
for announcements and discussion of community activities and events.
All non-business messages intended for the community at large are
appropriate for the list. These include, but are not limited to,
announcements of community events, public meeting schedules, sports
league schedules, discussion of issues relevant to the community and
announcements from service groups and schools.

Who should use this list?
Any member of the Twain Harte community, including the surrounding
area. The users of the list should determine what geographical limits,
if any, should be placed on the list. The list should be especially
useful to schools, sports leagues, service groups, local businesses
and individuals.

Can the list be used to offer items for sale?
The Twain Harte Community list is intended to be a non-commercial
forum. This means that items may be offered for sale by individuals
but not businesses. Regular offers of items for sale do not belong on
this list. In other words, if you want to sell your snow-blower,
that's fine. If you have a regular supply of beauty aids for sale,
then you're a business.

Is the list moderated?
No. A formally moderated list requires that the list-owner approve
every message before it is passed to the list. The list-owner (Greg
Falken) is simply a subscriber to this list and performs maintenance
functions. In the event that complaints are received about a
subscriber's behavior, the list-owner will communicate with the
subscriber in an attempt to resolve the issue. Any subscriber who
consistently uses the list for other than its stated purpose may be
permanently removed from the list.

Who operates this list?
This list is operated as a public service by webdancers, a Sonora-
based online information management company. The computer that hosts
the mail server is located in Alexandria, Virginia. Ain't technology
grand? The list-owner is Greg Falken, who is responsible for the
maintenance and operation of the list server. He can be reached at
gfa...@webdancers.com. Questions and comments about the Twain Harte
Community list are always welcome but please, don't ask why your
Internet connection wasn't working last night or how to make Windows
95 any easier to use.
