When an `Alim comes to visit us, he brings with him the light and grace of the sunnah; indeed such a person is a guest of Allah and His messenger, sallallahu`alayhi wa sallam.

It is a great honor that Allah has blessed us this month with a number of learned and erudite, eloquent scholars that will visit Thawr Institute.

FRIDAY, APRIL 15TH, MAGRHIB - `ISHA': IMAM ABDULLAH MADYUN

A Chicago native, Imam Abdullah Yusuf Madyun pursued the Higher Islamic Sciences and Arabic studies at Madinah University. He also spent time in the UAE advancing his Islamic education and living with scholars of varying cultural and educational traditions during his time there. Imam Abdullah is active in delivering lectures at universities throughout the US, da’wah programs, and Social Service activities throughout the Chicago area. Previously, he served as imam at Masjid al-Amin in Gary, Indiana for over five years and was the first ever Muslim chaplain in the state of Indiana. He is currently the imam of Masjid al-Ihsan.

SATURDAY, APRIL 16TH, MAGHRIB - `ISHA': SHAYKH JUNAYD KHARSANY
Shaykh Junaid was born in South Africa in 1975. He memorized the Holy Qur’an at age of 15. His higher studies began at the Madrasah ‘Arabiyyah Islamiyyah in Azaadville, South Africa where he immersed himself in the study of Arabic, fiqh, hadith, the Qur’an, and related sciences. Soon after graduating in 1996, he began teaching hadith and tafsir at Islahul Muslimeen a seminary in Durban. Shaykh Junaid has long been involved in the work of da’wah and has served as a social worker and leader for a number of communities. He is currently Imam at Masjid Jamat Islam in Inglewood, California. He is also the founder of the Riyadhul Uloom Institute in Torrance, CA. He regularly delivers talks across the United States.

THURSDAY, APRIL 21ST, MAGHRIB - `ISHA': SHAYKH IRSHAD MAS`OOD

Shaykh Irshad Mas`ood graduated from the Institute of Islamic Education in Elgin, Chicago in 2009. Since then, he has been active the Muslim community doing da`wah work, youth outreach, and bringing traditional knowledge to the Muslim community in San Diego. He is well-known for his uncanny ability to connect with many people from various walks of life quickly and bringing the blessings of knowledge to them in a way that gives direct benefit.

FRIDAY, APRIL 22ND, MAGHRIB - `ISHA': SHAYKH MUSA SUGAPONG

Shaykh Musa Sugapong was raised in America and is of Filipino origin. He accepted Islam as a young man, and set out to seek knowledge. His studies culminated in the Madrasah In`amiyyah, Camperdown, South Africa, where he recieved his ijazah in hadith, fiqh, and other subjects. He is actively involved in teaching and da`wah, and has written many fatwas for askimam.org. Along with his piety and academic achievements, he is an extremely talented basketball player.


SUNDAY, APRIL 24TH, 4:45PM AT MAPS, Redmond, WA: SHAYKH AMIN KHOLWADIA

Shaykh Mohammed Amin (Shaykh Amin) is the director of Darul Qasim – an institute for higher Islamic learning. Shaykh Amin has been serving the Chicago land Muslim community since he arrived from England in 1984. At Darul Qasim, the Shaykh instructs graduate and post-graduate students. At present, his classes include lectures on post-graduate studies in Hadith (Abu Dawood); higher studies in Islamic theology (Sharh ‘Aqa’id); advanced studies in Fiqh (Hidayah) and Tafseer of Jalalayn. Shaykh Amin also provides leadership in vital areas of academic and community affairs. This includes representing the community in the Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago and several other educational boards. Shaykh Amin offers excellent counseling services for parents; spouses and students. Shaykh Amin also serves as a Shariah advisor on Islamic finance for Zest Advisory LLP (England).

After completing his high school in Gloucester, England, Shaykh Amin pursued Islamic sciences in prestigious Muslim institutes in India and Pakistan (1975/1982). After completing his memorization of the Quran in Taraj, Gujerat, Shaykh Amin traveled to several seminaries in the Indian sub-continent. These included Sabeelur Rashad, Bangalore, India; Jamiah Islamiyyah, in Binnori Town, Karachi; Darul Uloom, Deoband, India and Miftahul Uloom, Jalalabad, India. At Darul Uloom, Deoband, India – the world renowned Muslim seminary, the former dean of the school, the great Qari Muhammad Tayyab honored Shaykh Amin by granting him “ijazah” (authority to transmit Hadith) in a private ceremony held at his home in Deoband.

He received further instruction and ijazah in Islamic law at the Imaarate Shariah, near Patna, Bihar from the late Qadi Mujahidul Islam – a highly distinguished Muslim jurist of the 20th century.

Along with his expertise in Islamic law, Shaykh Amin is also known for his prowess in Islamic theology. He received training in this field from Dr. Allamah Khalid Mahmood – who is currently a justice at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Shaykh Amin also received instruction in Islamic theosophy from his mentor, the late Shaykh Muhammad Meeran, at Sabeelur Rashad seminary in Bangalore, India. His studies in Islamic theosophy included the theories of al-Ghazali; Ibn Arabi; Shaykh Sarhindi and Shah Walliyullah of Delhi.

Shaykh Amin has traveled to and lectured in various countries across the globe. These include Malaysia; Singapore; South Africa; the U.A.E. Zimbabwe; and Zambia. Shaykh Amin has written numerous articles and a booklet on the exegesis of the first part of Surah al-Mudaththir named: “A Spark from the Dynamo of Prophethood."

All lectures to be delivered by learned scholars in their native English tongue.
